Alex

It's almost New Year's Eve, and Justin and I haven't talked since Christmas when he sent me that message. It's kind of weird but we both need the space. I was in my room watching tv when my mom peeked her head through the door, "Hey hun what's up?"

"Nothing, watching tv."

"Um, there's someone downstairs for you."

I gave her a weird look, "Uh okay." I said pausing my show and going downstairs. I went and almost froze once I saw Justin sitting on my couch. Once he saw me he stood up, "I was going to text you or call you or something but I knew you'd probably just hang up or not respond." He said.

I sighed, "What are you doing here Justin?"

"I need answers. I know you didn't just leave because you wanted to be with your friends you left after our mini fight which I thought we resolved." He said a bit angrily, "Look I drove 15 hours to be here right now so please tell me something worth it."

"Justin you seriously shouldn't have came here. Tomorrow's New Year's Eve and you should be home."

"I can't go into the new year not knowing where we stand, if we still stand anywhere. You leaving like that wasn't cool, nor was it mature at all." He said in disbelief, "Why did you leave Alex."

It took me a moment to just come clean, "While I was in New York I realized something, I loved you." I choked out, "Still loved you."

Justin looked shocked.

"Yeah I know." I said sighing taking a seat on the couch, "That night before I left I invited you over because I wanted to see if there was still any spark between us- if we could make it work somehow. But when I asked you about Sienna I saw the glow in your eyes, and the redness on your cheeks, that huge smile you had when you described your feelings for her. I couldn't just swoop in and say hey Justin I know you're in love with someone else but I love you and kind of wanna be with you sooooo yeah. That wouldn't be right."

Justin sighed sitting next to me on the couch waiting for me to finish.

"And I was so hurt that night that all I could think about is how much it'd pain me to spend 2 weeks, watching you with someone else. So I decided why put myself through that misery when I can just go home? Where I'm surrounded by nothing but endless love. So that morning, I woke up, cashed in my ticket, and flew home, where I belong."

Justin looked down in agony, "Oh my god Alex why didn't you tell me."

"You were talking about Sienna how I'd only dreamed you'd talk about me. You were clearly drawn to her. I couldn't break that up."

"Alex do you seriously think at one point I didn't talk about you fondly? Everyone around campus knows you because all I ever do is talk about how amazing you are, and how happy I am to have you in my life! I can't believe you thought I could ever love Sienna, someone I just got with- over you. You're my soulmate Alex! If you think me getting flustered talking about Sienna was cute, just imagine how I couldn't even speak when it came to you. I love you! And until you give me a reason not to I will always love you! You're like the best person I've met in my life, you mean so freaking much to me Alex how could you ever think Sienna could top that!" He yelled.

I felt tears come to my eyes, "I'm sorry-"

"Yeah me too." Justin said burying his face in his hands.

"I didn't know." I hoarsely said.

Justin let out a loud deep heavy sigh, "I didn't get to give you this on Christmas." He said holding out a small box.

I took it from him not hesitating to open it. A gold bracelet with charms was soon taken out of the box. One with a microphone, one with a chicken wing, one with a heart, and one bag of sugar, the rest were stars. I looked up at Justin waiting for him to explain.

"The microphone for Hannah montana, something I'll always love to watch with you. One with a chicken wing, because you sure do love chicken wings. A heart, because you're my love, and a bag of sugar, because I'm your suga. The rest are stars because you're my star. Forever." He said looking up at me.

I let a small tear hit the box, "How did you do this."

"Took a lot of money but, it was worth it. And you know what I got Sienna? A $10 gift I found at a store while I was going to get pretzels with Blake. Alex if that doesn't prove how much you mean to me then I don't know what will." Justin said taking the bracelet and placing it on my wrist.

"Fits perfectly." I whispered.

Justin looked up at me, "Alex we can make this work. I'm ready if you are. I'm willing to take the risk and be with you."

I felt myself letting more tears fall, "Justin no. I can't take that risk, it's too late."

"What do you mean it's too late?" Justin asked.

I pulled my necklace from under my shirt showing him the necklace Ethan got me, "Ethan Montgomery." I said to him, "This is my boyfriend."

Justin looked at the necklace before looking back up at me, "You and him?"

"Yeah.. me and him." I said hating the expression on Justin's face.

"I understand." Justin said beginning to stand up, "I'm gonna drive back home now."

"You don't have to go." I said standing up with him.

"Yeah Alex I think I do." He said, "I'll text you when I get back to New York."

"Justin please." I said placing my hand gently on his arm, "Don't leave like this."

"Yeah well at least I'm leaving with a notice." He said beginning to look at me with anger, "I'll see you whenever." He said then going out the door slamming it behind him. I jumped feeling more and more tears fill my eyes.

"Sweetie?" I heard my mom say from behind me.

I turned to her, "I'm guessing you heard all of that."

She nodded sorrily. I couldn't help but just walk over to her and cry into her shoulder. She rubbed tiny circles into my back, "It's gonna be okay, it's gonna be okay."
