After Rey was rescued from the clutches of Snoke, everyone had to go back to the Resistance base. But Peter had to say goodbye to Rey before they set off on their own paths. Groot had found the Milano, and Peter was going to go back to Xandar, or possibly Earth.
So Rey and Peter looked at each other.
'So, I guess that this is goodbye,' Rey said.
'Not forever,' Peter said. 'You can always call me if you need me to help.'
Then Rey looked at Peter and smiled.
'I love you, Peter,' she said.
'I know,' Peter replied, and so they kissed each other as they knew that they would not see each other often.
And then they hugged, and Rey began crying.
'Goodbye, Peter,' she said, 'we will see each other again, I know it.'
'Yeah,' Peter replied, 'Goodbye.'
And so they parted ways. Rey was taking Kylo Ren to Ahch-To to teach him in the ways of the light side. And Peter? He was reunited with his friends aboard the Milano, and they continued to have their own adventures through deep space. Peter always remembered Rey, for she was one of the nicest and most beautiful girls he had ever met. He would not forget his entire adventure. He saved the galaxy once again. All was well.
