Lily was adorable. I couldn't get the fact out of my head that Lily and Logan were siblings. I also couldn't get the fact out of my head that Lily and I were connecting so well. No, I need to get these thoughts out of my head.

We walked over to my family, and I introduced everyone.

“Lily, Logan. This is my family.” I started pointing to individual people. “That's my brother Josh, my other brother Jackson, my mom Lisa, and my dad Adam. Guys, this is my friend Logan and his little sister Lily. Oh and Logan? Ignore everything my two idiot brothers say. Their half retarded.”

“HEY!” My two brothers said simultaneously. I swear those two shared a brain sometimes. Logan, Lily, and I giggled at them. “Little sister... that wasn't very nice!” Josh said. “Especially when you know we can tackle you in the water!” Jackson exclaimed. Then I turned, and booked it for the water. I ripped off my shirt, and left my board shorts on. They chased after me, but I dove into the water before they could get me. I swam and swam, till I got out as far as I could. Then I turned, and looked back to shore. Logan and Lily were at the shoreline, just sitting and laughing. I looked around for my brothers, but they were no where to be found. Until I heard the jet skis. Now I was doomed, but I was happy I was making Lily and Logan laugh.

Later when I got back to shore, Lily was really excited to get in the water. Logan grabbed my board from my parents truck, and got a small body board for his sister. I took Lily out about 15 feet, and Logan stayed close. I taught her the basics of body boarding, when to catch the wave, when to jump on the board, everything. After about an hour and a half, Lily was almost a pro. Searching the horizon for a good wave to catch. I couldn't be prouder. I told Lily to stay in eyesight, then caught a wave back to shore. When I walked over to Logan, he just stood there, with his arms crossed and slouched back.

“What?” I questioned.

“Oh nothing. I just didn't think my little sister would love you this much.” he said.

“Oh? Huh, guess I'm a natural with kids.” I bragged.

“So what brought on that conversation we had the other night?” he said and he sat down in the sand, his toes touching the water.

“I don't really know... I mean, things with Owen are kind of tough right now. It gets annoying always being there for his every need. Always doing what he wants to do... it just gets to be kind of a drag.” I replied as I sat down next to him.

“So you're always playing Miss Perfect Girlfriend?”

“Yeah...”

“I'm sorry. I always have to play dad towards Lily. My mom is always working, always on meetings, or staying late. Ever since my dad died... all she ever does in bury herself in her work.” Logan said as he was looking at his little sister, playing in the water.

“I'm so sorry Logan. How long ago did he pass away?”

“A few years ago... I was 15. Lily was only six. He was a cop.”

“Oh no. That's so sad. I'm sorry...”

“Don't worry about it. You know, for my fifteenth birthday, he got me a 69' T-bird that we'd restore together. We never got to finish it...”

“I could help you restore it if you want...” I said. I felt so bad... a million questions buzzed through my head, but I'd save them for another time.

“Uhm... yeah. Maybe.” he replied. Then he got up, and crossed his arms. “So, how good are you, surfer girl?”

“Better than you.” I challenged. Then I grabbed my board and headed out about 40 yards. I sat impatiently and awaited for what seemed like forever. Then I saw a great one, so I went for it. I got up on my board and got the familiar adrenaline rush as I rode the wave.

I strode back to the beach with pride, and my board resting on my hip. Logan looked astonished. My family was clapping and cheering. Even Lily was jumping up and down.

“I WANNA DO THAT! I WANNA DO THAT!” Lily screamed.

“Eventually kiddo.” I laughed.

“Hey kids! Dinner time!” My mom yelled. We all ran to out little spot on the beach, and sat down and ate hot dogs and hamburgers. This was a family tradition, and a part of me couldn't believe I was letting Logan in. The other part of me was glad he was here. I was full of mixed feelings. Seeing how well he blended in with my family. He even got my brothers to shut up. Owen never could. He always just stood there awkwardly and took it, the 3 times he actually was with them...

I was helping pack up all of Logan and Lily's stuff in my car, my brothers were helping my parents with their stuff. It was about seven, and definitely time to go. Lily was getting sleepy and my mom had an early meeting. My family said good-bye to Logan and his little sister, and drove away. I got in my car, and checked my texts while Logan was getting Lily buckled. The first message I got was from Zoey.

Z: Hey Ave! Sorry I couldn't make it! How's Logan...?

The next few were from Owen.

O: Hey beautiful how was the beach?

O: I really miss u :(

O: Hope ur having fun...

O: I gotta go :( text me later? Bye.

I shut my phone off without replying to any of them, and turned to Logan, who was looking at me with the cutest smile in the world. I looked in his eyes, and they were a bright blue that immediately made me envious. I smiled back at him, and blushed a little.

“I love your eyes... I wish I had blue eyes.” I said, without thinking. WOOHOO. ZERO BRAIN CELLS STRIKE AGAIN.

“Uhm?” he looked at me with an odd expression.

“Sorry... that was random. My bad.” I said in response. Then I started my car. He looked at me with a weird expression, then put his seat belt on.
