I believe you're the one
Who freed me of my sins
Made me feel whole
Your power over me wins
When you're near
It's like traveling a new frontier
You're a new type of feeling
That leaves my heart cheering
Your beauty can captivate
That's not your only admirable trait
So be my valentine tonight
Underneath the twilight
I read it over and over again. In every class. I can't stop wondering who would've written it. When Owen saw it he looked so pissed off. I tried to calm him down but it didn't work very well. Before lunch he was still mad. It said “from anonymous” but you never know. An anonymous anything, could be a someone special everything. What I mean is, someone who you don't know now, could end up being the love of your life, your someone special.
Walking out to my car, I see Owen leaning against the back of it, and Logan keeping his distance, putting his stuff in the backseat of his car, being aware. Owen always has tension whenever Logan is around, especially since we've been hanging out so much. Maybe he suspects something.
“Owen? Are you okay?” I ask.
“Yeah. I'm fine babe. So, I want you to come to band practice tonight.”
“Oh um... okay. When does it start?”
“At six. Can you pick me up?”
“Sure.”
“Thanks beautiful,” he says, then kisses me on the cheek. He runs to his mom's truck and waves goodbye. Once Owen leaves, I glance to Logan. He's huffing and puffing, throwing things around in the back seat. Then he looks up at me with angry, but remorseful eyes.
“Clingy much?” Logan says in an annoyed tone.
“He's acting weird today. Just don't mind it,” I say honestly.
“Because of that poem?” How did he know about it?
“Um, yeah,” I trail off.
“I wish I had thought of something like that,” he mumbles out. “Do you really want to hang out with him today?” He starts walking over to me.
“Well I kind of have to. We haven't spent time together outside of school in like two weeks,” I admit sheepishly. Logan is now three feet in front of me.
“Remember Avery, do the things you want, the things that make YOU happy.” Logan says as he pulls me into a hug. I'm cautious as I wrap my arms around his neck.
“Trying to...” Logan opens up my car door for me, and I slide in.
“Happy Valentine's Day, Avery,” he says quietly.
“You too Logan,” I say with a hopeful, gentle smile. Then I drive off.
