- Mia
As I practically fall through the window to Marcus' room, it begins to rain. I internally groan. My arms ache from climbing up the drainpipe.
'Are you just gonna lie on the floor all night?' Marcus jeers and I glare up at him. What an asshole.
'No. I'm hugging the floor.' I tell him and stick my tongue out.
'Oh my god you're such a dork!' He laughs.
I roll my eyes and push myself to my feet. Even when I'm stood up I'm much shorter than Marcus is. I always find myself craning my neck to get a good look at him.
'So... what did you want to show me?' I question, Marcus' eyebrows knit in confusion.
'What do you mean?'
'I mean. You brought me here to show me something. What is it?' I tilt my head slightly.
Suddenly Marcus bursts into laughter. I stare at him, mildly horrified at his sudden outbreak.
'I only said that so you'd follow me!' He laughs.
I stand still for a minute before taking a step towards him, I look up into his ocean blue eyes before raising a hand and slapping him right across the face.
Shocked, he stops laughing and puts a hand where I slapped him. He then looks at me,
'Ouch.'
I narrow my eyes at him, 'you deserve it, asshole.' I then proceed to look away.
'But you wouldn't follow me otherwise... Mia?' I ignore him, 'oh so now you're giving me the silent treatment... Mia!' I turn myself fully away from him, 'pleasseeee don't do this.' Marcus pauses, 'okay you can stop now... Mia cmon I'm sorry.'
Sorry. I don't think that's a word that's ever come out of Marcus Lockwood's mouth before. Slowly I turn around, a small smirk plastered across my face.
'Did Marcus Lockwood just say he was... sorry?' I grin at the sulkiness on his face.
'Don't milk it' Marcus rolls his eyes causing me to giggle.
'I'm still mad at you for making me climb up a drainpipe for no reason.' I scowl. Marcus only smiles in response.
'How else am I suppose to get you to come over to my house without complaining?'
I furrow my eyebrows, 'well I don't know maybe you could try asking me?' I say, my voice laced with sarcasm.
'Well it's not like Jasper's here so we'll be fine.' He shrugs.
I think for a second before replying, 'fine. What am I doing here then?'
'Am I not allowed to spend time with people I actually care about?' He replies, casting his eyes down to mine again.
For some reason his reply makes my heart flutter, I blush slightly and shake my head.
'As long as you ask beforehand.' I tell him, biting my lip slightly.
He raises his eyebrows, 'sure thing.' Then he turns around and walks out of the room we're in.
I follow closely so as not to get lost, 'where are you going?' I whisper loudly.
Marcus laughs. 'Why are you whispering? There's nobody here except us.'
'Oh... I knew that' I roll my eyes as I walk down the stairs behind him.
It's been so long since I've been in this house but it feels like only yesterday. I remember all the days I spent here with the brothers. Smiling and laughing together. Those days are long gone aswell as the smiles and laughs that came with them.
We walk into the kitchen in complete silence until I hear a loud shriek coming from Marcus.
I look at him confused before I follow his gaze to the corner.
Sitting in the corner with his earphones in, eating cereal, out of the box. Is none other than Dylan Lockwood.
He looks up, his mouth full of cheerios, and stops chewing.
I try not to laugh but it's almost like something out of a comedy movie.
'Dylan...' Marcus starts, 'you scared me.'
Dylan starts chewing on the cereal again, 'I got hungry.'
I have to look down so that I don't laugh as I sense the timing is completely wrong.
'Aren't you supposed to be at football?' Marcus queries.
Dylan swallows then shrugs before shaking his head. 'I hate football, and anyway I'm grounded.' He stands up and puts the box back in the cupboard, he then turns around. 'And you're grounded too. I don't really want to be in anymore trouble with Jasper than I already am, so I advise you to stop doing things you shouldn't be then he wouldn't have any reason to pick on us.' And with that he pushed past us and walked out of the room.
Marcus sighs, 'sorry about him... he still struggles with our parents death still sometimes.'
I nod and sit down. I never really knew my parents so I didn't really have any reason to mourn them, I can only imagine the pain Marcus and his brothers went through.
Marcus sits next to me at the table, he doesn't say anything for a while. Finally he sighs, 'why did you walk out in the party the other night?'
'You said something about never having cared about the Rule?' I look at him.
He nods, 'yeah... is that bad?'
I scoff, 'so when you ended our friendship two years ago it was for no reason.'
He doesn't reply for what seems like forever, 'I did it to keep you safe.'
'Yeah. Sure you did.' I look away.
Why is he so confusing? And is he lying to me?
He grabs my hand, looking into my eyes. I can't help but feel my heart start to beat faster.
'I'm serious. I didn't want you to take any shit from Jasper...' I know from his tone of voice that he's telling the truth.
I sigh. 'Okay... I'm sorry.'
'Don't say you're sorry. It's not your fault'
I nod, finding myself lost in his bright blue eyes. As I continue to gaze at them I see them dart down to my lips.
I don't know exactly what's happening, as I flutter my eyes shut and lean in towards Marcus, I can sense he's doing the same.
Just before our lips touch the door is swung open, crashing against the wall.
I sit up and turn my head to the door.
There stood in the doorway was a ver angry looking Jasper.
And he was looking straight at us.
