SONG OF THE SHOT:
If You Leave - Orchestral Maneuvers In The Dark➰➰➰
Adrien never knew why people enjoyed taking day trips. All of the driving was taxing all on its own. If the opportunity arose, he would happily book a hotel for one night with no problem.
When he was forced to meet with a designer his father was collaborating with, he had no clue that they lived four hours away. That, and how badly he needed a massage. Tightness consumed his neck and shoulders, causing a discomforting pain to erupt. Trying to become less miserable, Adrien turned on the radio. He grew easily frustrated with how many stations were stuffed with thick static.
There was only one station. It was one that only produced overplayed songs with bubblegum artists and bands. The music was eye-roll inducing and way too repetitive. Alas, he needed something to lose himself with, cranking the volume so high, it shook the flimsy rear-view mirror on his windshield.
It was no secret that driving while enraged at the situation one was haggled into is not a safe situation by any means. There was only a matter of time before Adrien's compromised eyesight missed a sharp nail lying in the highway lane he was utilizing. With a rather loud drag, he noticed that one of his tires was hindered. Sighing dramatically and gripping the wheel strenuously, Adrien pulled the fancy car over to the right shoulder.
One would think of panicking when such a situation arose. However, Adrien was not happy with how this would lag the amount of time it would take to return home to a relaxing bubble bath, warm glass of milk and fluffy blankets. He dialed a wreckers number, hoping someone would be sent to help him sooner than later.
A cop was quick to pull behind him. He needed to swallow any attitude that resided in him, as he wasn't wishing to pay a fine for rudeness. When the cop reached his window, Adrien rolled it down. "Car trouble?" the officer asked.
"Yeah, I think I popped the back tire. I've called Roadside Assistance and they said that they sent someone out."
"Alright, have a good rest of your day," the police officer stated. "You too, Sir," Adrien returned with a slight nod of his blonde head.
Time passed. What was once a blue sky was now the inklings of a sunset with pink curls and orange streaks throughout. A massive tow truck parked behind his vehicle on the shoulder. He was surprised over two things. One, there was a massive yellow lab chilling out in the passenger seat. Two, the wrecker was a girl. And a gorgeous one at that. Sure, she had a grease stain or twenty on her, but it was almost endearing.
"You call for a wrecker?" the girl spoke.
"Two and a half hours ago, yes I did."
"Cut the snip, Mister. I have the power to hop back in 'Ol Bessie and drive back to my shop. Your choice, Bucko."
Adrien was taken aback by her forwardness. He had never engaged with such a sassy bombshell inside of a rather small girl. "Fine," he mumbled, moving toward the punctured tire. "That's quite the flat ya got there," she said, being abrupt and not even introducing herself to him. "You're telling me. I'm the one who lived it out," Adrien replied, trying to lighten the darkened mood. Something inside of him warned to not poke or provoke the bear that was sure to be stirring inside of the pigtailed wrecker.
"I'm Adrien, by the way."
"I know. Agreste, right? My kid sister's obsessed with your father's work. That, and your modeling. She's got too many posters of you. It's almost creepy. She'll flip a lid once I tell her that you were a perfect damsel in distress," she laughed.
