A sunny morning without a cloud in the sky, the wind was flowing through a field of cherry blossom trees causing the pedals to rain down, gently like a light snow, over the field of grass where Rane and Moka rested their heads.
Moka: This place is beautiful.
Rane: It's pretty dam amazing.
They both rolled onto their side to look at each other. For some reason Rane found himself admiring her long pink hair and her emerald green eyes and Moka met his gaze with a heartwarming smile. Everything felt like there wasn't a care in the world until Rane looked at her neck.
Rane: Your rosary.
It was at that instant that the day turned to a crimson night, the pink pedals of the cherry blossom trees turned blood red, the grass where they were laying turned black and Moka lost her pink hair, her green eyes and the warm smile. It was replaced with hair of silver and eyes of red with paler skin and a smile that was half hearted, meant to cover the true face of pain that Rane could see through her eyes.
Rane: Where did she go?
Moka: She's gone Rane.
Rane: She can't be......I made a promise.....to the both of you.
Moka: You did everything you could, but it wasn't enough.
Rane: No no NO! I didn't do everything! I didn't give it everything I had!
Moka: I'm sorry Rane. We truly believed in you but we should've known better. After all, under all that power you're still just human.
It was then that Rane woke up, his chest was bare and sweating from his sixth nightmare and just like every other night his awakening followed by a fit of rage where he would normally punch something but everything in his room was already ruined. With nothing to do he simply looked outside his window into the night sky. The dreadful day replayed in his head over and over again, waking up to hearing that she was gone, not being able to say goodbye. What felt worst was all the research he had been doing, the interrogations out in the human world, the promise he made, and he lost it all in one bad day. He lost a friend, a piece of his heart would forever be missing. It was a time he never imagined would come and it was so painful that it brought him to tears every night including this one. From there he would simply gaze until night turned into day. Rane went to class as he normally did. All the students were shaken up by the recent event and the damage that was done wasn't fixed yet but the biggest shake up was a new addition to their class in replacement of their old one. She entered the room with her usual unimpressed look but it would turn to compassion everyday when she saw Rane sitting by the window. She walked over to him and put her hands on his desk to get his attention.
Moka: You sleep alright?
Rane: Uh...yeah I slept fine.
Moka: You're eyes are a bit red.
Rane: Allergies.
Moka: This isn't your first year hear...why would they be acting up now.
Rane: You're asking a lot of questions today aren't you?
Moka couldn't deny that Rane's attitude made her angry but, knowing what he was going through, she suppressed it and took has hand.
Moka: I know you're upset about her, I just want you to be honest with me so I can help you.
Rane slipped his hand out of he grasp and put it in his pocket.
Rane: I'm fine Moka....You worry too much, it isn't like you.
Moka became even angrier on the inside but still kept it under control.
Moka: Yeah, it isn't. We still having lunch together?
