Luke's POV
I jogged up the stairs to our apartment after finally deciding that I had given them enough time. I know what I did was wrong but I could have wrecked all of my chances with them or my little girl at all.I knocked a few times and stood back waiting for an answer. When no one opened up I sighed,"Lauren I'm sorry baby just let me in. I'll make it better I promise."
I waited for another hour at her door and heard nothing, not footsteps not my daughters soft cries or even the sound of her reading to Juniper.
I finally got impatient and started knocking harder,"Lauren open up."
When she didn't answer for a while I sighed and pulled out my phone and dialed her number. She didn't answer at first so I kept calling until she did,"Hello?"
"Where is she?" I replied pacing in the hallway in front of the door.
"Luke?" She questioned sounding annoyed.
"Where is our daughter?"
"I have her and it's quarter after, what are you doing calling me this time of night?" She questioned slightly raising her voice.
"I thought that I would give you time and I just came by to make things right." I sighed,"Lauren can you please open up?"
"No, go home Luke." She replied and hung up.
I ran threw my phone againts the other wall and ran my hands through my hair. I sat crouched against the door with my hands in my hair thinking about how bad I fucked up.
This was the one thing I promised myself that I wouldn't fuck up. I can have many chances with my friends and family but this is the one thing that I can't ever redo. My little girl could either hate me or love me and grow up not knowing how a man should treat her.
"Hey Luke what are you doing out here?" I raised my head to see the sweat old lady that has been living across the hall from us even before Lauren moved in here.
"Just looking for Lauren and Juniper... you haven't seen them have you?" I asked and stood.
She thought for a moment before smiling brightly at me,"Oh yes now I remember. Her and the little deary moved out about two months ago, something to do with Lauren's new job. You need me to call her son?"
I gave her a small smile,"It's okay I'll call her but you need to go back to bed," I paused to look down at my watch,"It's almost 10 now."
"Okay but you should call her in the morning, the poor girl is probably just settling in." She replied before walking back to her door. Before she closed it she smiled brightly at me again,"Goodnight Luke."
"Goodnight." I replied and smiled back. All I knew was that I had to get them back and I wasn't going to stop without all least being able to see my daughter.
Lauren's POV
I was woken up almost two hours later to Juniper screaming from inside of her crib. I sighed before shuffling over to her crib and picked her up.I heald her so that she was laying against my chest with her head by my shoulder. I gently rubbed circles on her back and hushed her,"Shhh Mommy's here Juniper."
She whimpered and squeezed onto my shirt rubbing her face against my chest. That's her new thing that she down when she's hungry and I have no idea how she would have even thought to come up with it in the first place.
I felt her diaper and she was due for a change so I quickly grabbed her diaper and wipes that I had sitting on the other side of the bed knowing that I would be up at least three to four times tonight.
