Bitter Love

Chapter 23

Lauren's POV
"Do you see Daddy?" I questioned as we waited for him at the airport.

She stood on her tippy toes and shook her head,"Is he coming home?"

I nodded,"He should be right out. We just have to wait."

I dressed her in a navy blue dress that goes down to her knees with white nylons and navy shoes. I put her hair in pigtails that were tied up with white bows.

I picked her up and set her on my hip as she started to get restless,"He'll be here."

Sure enough I saw him and he smiled at us. Juniper didn't see him right away so I pointed in his direction,"Does he look familiar?"

Her head turned and she jumped from my arms and ran to him,"Daddy!"

I started crying as I walked over and engulfed them in a hug. It felt as if I were alone in all of the things that have happened in the past couple months without him here,"We missed you."

"I missed my girls even more." He kissed the top of her head and then gave me a peck on the lips.

"Let's go home." I gave him a peck on the lips before starting to walk to the car.

I glanced back to make sure that Juniper was with us and saw that she clung to her Dad with her arms and legs wrapped around him.

I smiled,"I guess you can say that she missed you."

"You have no idea how much I've missed her. And you." I smiled at him as he hugged onto Juniper even tighter.

I drove back home while he sat in the back with Juniper as she wouldn't stop crying until he agreed to do so. I get it though, she missed him and so did I.

"Daddy I missed you." She cried as she clung onto him.

"I missed you more baby girl." He kissed the top of her head and sighed.

"Hey Juniper?" I waited for her to sit up and look at me in the mirror,"I was thinking that when we get home we can all have a nap?"

She smiled and nodded,"I wanna show Daddy my new room!"

I smiled at her and focused on Luke's surprised face,"New room?"

I nodded,"It was supposed to be a surprise but we started changing her room a little bit."

Luke's POV
I walked into Juniper's 'new' room and saw that some of her stuff she had from when she was born was moved out. My heart sank when I saw the changing table was gone and so was her crib.

She grabbed onto my hand and started jumping,"See Daddy? It's pretty."

I smiled down at her,"A big girl room for the biggest girl I know."

"We're going to go and get some new paint tomorrow and I get to pick!" Lauren came into the room and stood behind Juniper.

"After that we will get some new curtains and sheets that match the colour she chooses and a rug."

I looked at the wall and saw that her Winnie the Pooh stickers were taken down,"Juniper?"

She looked up from her toy box,"Yeah?"

"Where did your stickers go?" I pointed to the wall and saw her face fall.

I watched as she looked to Lauren,"Where did they go?"

I felt Lauren shift beside me,"I thought that you wanted horses instead."

"Hey it's okay Baby girl. Now we can just put some horse stickers up there okay?" I picked her up and set her on her bed that still had the covers from her crib on it.
