Hello everyone,
I have not been on Wattpad in a very long time. Like, 2 to 3 years almost. I could explain the reasons for my absence in detail but here's the gist of it: starting college, dropping out of college, working, trauma, moving across the country, healing. I had pretty much completely abandoned this account.
I started writing The Assassin my senior year of high school when I was 17. All the while, I was prepping for college and wild stuff was happening and basically it was one of the worst years of my life and writing this little story was an outlet. Then the next few years had its inevitable ups and downs (one of the downs being that season 2 of Attack on Titan being pushed further and further into the future, by year 2 of the wait I was pretty much done with aot. I was like 'tbh if season 2 dropped tomorrow I wouldn't really care').
Anyway, I'm almost 21 now (in 13 days) and I pay rent and I'm queer as folk (I guess I always was but I hadn't realized it more fully until the more recent past) and season 2 is out and my rear end found its way back into the trash pit that is Attack on Titan. So after getting all caught up on the episodes a couple days ago, I was like ",,,,, wait,,,,,, didn't I used to write Attack on Titan fic,,,,,," because I really hadn't thought about it in so long. I had repressed a lot of my 17th year, as well.
Long story short, I found my way back into this account and saw that people still read The Assassin, which is crazy to me. And, of course, I had to re-read it as well, it's like finding one of your old diaries. I skimmed it at first because CRINGE CRINGE CRINGE CRINGE CRINGE But when I went back to actually read it.... it was still cringe but it wasn't... terrible. I mean, it totally was. My OCs were awful (although I quite like Georgie, I can't wrap my head around how I was even able to begin writing a character like her) and I never proofread any of it so there are parts of it that are barely legible. And my author notes were so annoying. But like,,,,, I can see why y'all were pissed I didn't update it. For a mostly aromantic asexual, the love aspect of the series between Georgie and Jean that I wrote wasn't too bad. And I gave Jean some great lines, man. Like, I'm pissed I didn't update just for Jean's lines. But I feel like where I left off wasn't the worst place to leave off. It wasn't the best place but it wasn't the worst, I could've left it in the middle of an important plot point but where I left it wasn't too bad.
I had gotten halfway through a draft of the next chapter before I abandoned it completely.
So here's the thing- I'm probably not going to finish that draft. My mind is beyond dry of this story and I haven't kept up with the aot manga since 2014 and to be honest I never knew a ton about Assassin's Creed to begin with. If I were to write this story in the present, I wouldn't make it Assassin's Creed-related at all. Which is what I wanted to talk about next- rewriting this entire story. Given that I never proofread, this would be more like a second draft of the story (like FMA: Brotherhood to the original FMA anime lol) but with significant changes to make sense with the canon (not to fit it perfectly, but to write it in a way that just makes sense, I don't know how to explain, sorry). I'd still use the Georgie character, although I'm not 100% sure on how she'd fit with all the canon developments, and take more care in developing her and her relationship with Jean.
I am willing to give this a shot as long as there are still people that want more of this story, which is where you come in. Let me know what you want and I'll see what I can do. Let me know if you have any questions as well. If you still want non-plot stories... Yeah. I'll see what I can do. There's been a shortage of Attack on Titan memes in the past few years. The key point here is if you want more, I'd be willing to give. But it has been 3 three years, so if you're over it like I was/am, I totally understand.
Thanks,
Jo
