Life is Never Fair

Heartbreaking News

It's been nearly three weeks and we haven't heard anything from my brother or Emma. I'm starting to feel a bit worried. I had promised to look after Aqua but it pains me that she's constantly asking me about them because she misses them.

I'm at their palace just my mother, Aqua and I. My mother is acting as queen until my brother comes back. Today I decided to take Aqua to our kingdoms village, she always loves to visit the village. So there we were exploring of course.

We went to various shops and bakeries because above all she loved dresses and sweets. After we bought a couple of pastries we went over to the docks. We sat by the edge and stared at the water.
"Auntie Lei," Aqua said as she took a bite of her pastry. "Yes sweetie?" "I want mommy and daddy." I sigh.

"Don't worry Aqua they'll be back before you know it." She looked down and nodded. It broke my heart that she was feeling this way. I was starting to worry a bit because they should have been back by now. I then thought of something that might lift her spirits up. "Hey Aqua, do you want to play a game?" She smiles and stands up.

"It's a game I used to play with your dad." She smiles and claps. "Ok so it's called tag, you have to run and I have to try and catch you." She nods. "You understand me?" She nods. I'm surprised that she clearly understands me I mean for almost being a three year old she's very smart.

"Ok run Aqua." She nods and starts to run. There's no way of me losing her because she's a wee little thing. Once I see her a little further up than me I start to chase her. She's laughing while she's running. "You better run faster," I scream out to her and she laughs.

That's when I hear commotion behind me and I turn to look and I see people gathering around the docks. I look back and Aqua is gone. I start to panic. "Aqua?" I scream out. Nothing. "Sweetie, Aqua where are you?" I scream out. My heart drops. I can't find her.

I ran into the nearby woods and there's no sign of her. Oh my God I cannot lose my niece. That's when a knight from the palace comes running towards me. "Your Highness." I nod. "What is it?" "You must come quickly, there are news of Emma and Killian." I smile then panic. Oh no they will probably be looking for their daughter and I just lost her.

I ignore the knight and continued to run. "Aqua!" I scream out. That's when someone appears in front of me. It was a pirate. "Afternoon your highness, looking for the sole heir of this kingdom?" I scoff. "Where's Aqua?" He laughs. "Now now princess Leilani, that's not how it works."

"You fool, my brother and sister in law have already returned, try anything and your fate will be the gallows." He chuckles. "Oh foolish princess, have you not heard, the king and Queen are dead." I gasp. "What?" He nods. "You're lying." He shakes his head then walks up to me and grabs my face.

"You will do as I say or you will never see your precious niece again, understood?" I nod. He lets me go and I hit him. I run and I see Aqua tied up. She smiles as soon as she sees me. I unite her and picked her up. "You ok sweetie?" She nods and hugs me tighter. "I no play anymore." I sigh and nod. "Don't worry sweetie, let's just go home." She nods and we make our way back to the palace.

My mom comes running towards me and she's in tears. I shake my head. "No, no it can't be true." She nods. "Kelly please take Aqua to her play room," my mom says as Kelly one of the maids takes Aqua away. "There was a storm and your brother's ship went down." I gasp. "There was only one survivor and he said your brother, Emma, Regina, Robin and the rest of the crew all died at sea."

My heart broke. "It can't be, we lost father and now we lost the rest our family?" She nods. "Aqua is going to be heartbroken." She nods then looks at my dress. "Why are you all dirty?" I start to panic. "Aqua and I were playing tag and yeah." She nods. Of course I couldn't tell her what happened but after today I promise not take Aqua out of the palace. We can't lose her too.

That's when I start to cry. "Aqua just told me today that she wanted her parents back and now she will never have them back." My mom sighs. "Well she will have to learn how to live without them." I sigh. "Let me talk to her I know she's young, but it will be hard on her." She nods.

I make my way to her play room. I walk in and she quickly gets up. "Look Auntie Leí, this is you, mommy, daddy, and me," she says as she hands me a paper covered in scribbles. I smile as I look at it. "That is very beautiful love, good job." She smiles then gives me a weird look. "Auntie crying?"

"Sweetie, mommy and daddy will not be coming back for quite some time." She gave me a weird look. "They have gone to be with grandpa, remember how I told you about that." She nodded but still seemed a bit confused. "Mommy and daddy don't love me?" I shake my head. "Of course they do, they will always love you."

She nods then hugs me. Then she starts to cry. "I want mommy and daddy." I sigh. I couldn't say anything, the only thing I could do was embrace her and comfort her because Emma and Killian are never coming back.
