27~ Jealously

"Yeh Alya kahan hai?" Cabir sniffled angrily , fidelling with his drum sticks .

"Sabse pehle toh wohi aati hai!...Aaj kya hua!..." added Mukti, shrugging her shoulders.

"Aur yeh Nandini! ...Nandini kahan hai?...." Dhruv asked irritated.

It was 8 in the morning and we were almost done with half the new song but, the new roomies that is Alya and the potato-face Nandini was no where to be found.

I rolled my eyes irritated as I eyed the rest,

"I'll go and see....." I said taking a step.

"Tu rehne de..I'll go..." Mukti suggested.

"No Mukti! " I said and stormed off towards their room before anyone else could object.

"Nandini...."

"Nandini...."

"Nandini open the door " I kept banging the door till it finally opened.

"Why the hell are you shouting!" She shouted in whispers as she opened the door slightly.

"Alya kahan hai!" I asked trying to peek inside the room.

"She couldn't sleep all night.....subha 5 baaje jaake soyi hai...." she mentioned with a sigh.

"What!...We have to practise okay....she needs to be there....and why? Why couldn't she sleep!!" I was intrigued further.

"What do you mean! I'll wake her up in a while....abb tum jao! " she said in a argumentative voice.

"Nandini..." but she cut me off in the middle.

"Manik please.....let her be....she wasn't feeling well the last night after.." but she stopped in the middle.

"After?"I asked and just as I had questioned ; did her expressions change drastically.

"After what?" I questioned again.

"After....after...she.." she was fumbling with words now.

"Nandini...kaun hai wahan? " came a voice.

"There she is awake...!" I said with a victory smile.

"Manik aaya hai...." she said nodding her head in disbelief.

I found Alya behind her the next moment with a pale face. Her kajal was smudged and her hair was a mess. I barely found her in this state.

"I'm so sorry....I'll...I'll come down in ten minutes..." she pleaded and motioned to go back in.

"Ek second...." I said stepping inside the room and asking Nandini to move from infront of her.

"Tum ro rahi thi kya kaal raat?" I asked touching her cheek. She eyed my hands but I didn't find it necessary to undo any of my actions.

"Noh...I....I..." she stammered.

"Is everything alright?" I asked pulling back my hand.

"Yes...I'll just come down....I'm sorry to have delayed the rehearsals..I know it means a lot to you...." she kept on pleading.

"Its okay....." I smiled making her smile as well.

I turned around to leave and felt Nandini shut the door behind me. I sighed and turned back again to find the door not fully locked. I waited there, for them to speak. I needed to play my cards well, no more secrets!
