Carter sat on his bike, reading yet another book of myths. This one was a local one however, and he was only reading about a single monster from the entire book. The Dark One. A being forced into a pact with the Dark Forest, the myth going back to the start of the village. It began with a blind seer who lived in the woods, and how he wished to see through his own eyes. Making a pact with the darkness that permeated the forest, he took it in and absorbed it, becoming corrupted. This was the price he paid to be able to leave the village, and take the eyes of a poor girl. From there it continued until today, where the latest woman in hundreds of years now lived in the woods. But there was another catch, it always had to be the opposite gender as the current Dark One. This made it easy for the village to protect the possible victims normally, but with the vampires plaguing the townspeople as well, it was all but impossible to guard against her.

"(F/N)!" Caxin called out. Him and the others had been searching for you for hours, finding nothing but your gun, some blood, and footprints in the mud. "Keep following these prints, we have to catch up to her sometime." Looking at the ground Caxin tried to figure out why he didn't see drag marks. You were a large man, six foot tall, almost 200 lbs. How could she pick you up so easily?

"Excuse me are you Carter Slade?" Looking up from his book Carter replied to the distressed woman. "I am. What's wrong ma'am." Standing straight he listened, his skin beginning to crawl. "I escaped the forest, a man tried to take my eyes but j managed to escape, he's wounded but he should still be there. Please kill him before he comes for me again please." she grabbed Carter desperately, her eyes brimming with tears. "Of course ma'am. I'll stop him." Worried only for the villages safety he failed to realize, it was a woman that lived in the woods. Why would a man attack her for her eyes? And why was she so quick for him to kill this threat?

Groaning you rubbed your head, opening your eyes. "Isn't the moon out?" Indeed it was, light flitting through the trees, but for some reason, you couldn't see at all. It was pitch black. Looking about you still saw nothing, then it came flashing back. The woman laughing as she triumphantly removed your eyes. Taking them as her own as she ran to the village. Panting in fear now you put your hands to your eyes, and touched them. There was nothing there, merely an empty socket. Your screams of horror filled the woods.

"This way." Caxin charged ahead as he heard you screaming in shock, worried. You may not have known each other long, but he swore to your father he would keep you safe. He didn't need to know you, just that you were his closest friends son was enough to make him feel close to you. So it was heartbreaking when he and the others found you groping for your eyes, panting in fear.
