You and the others were at High Hrothgar currently. It was you, Carter, Caxin, Juvia and Gray that had been picked, seeing how well you all worked together. You and Gray were walking down the Seven Thousand Steps to go get some food from the village for everyone. Chatting you both discussed your respective pasts, your feeling of rivalry towards him for Juvia all but forgotten. As you crossed the bridge a courier ran up to you two. "Excuse me, are one of you (F/N)?" Stepping forward you told him, "I am." He handed you a letter, and took off. "That's all. Sorry but I have more letters to deliver." Opening the folded letter you scanned the page, only to stop dead. There at the end was the words you never thought you'd hear again, "Love Mom". Looking over the letter again it said your mother was coming to Skyrim, wanting to see you after eight years with the Graybeards. "Hey Gray your gonna have to get food on your own. I have something to do." Putting the letter up you turned to leave, only for Gray to stop you. "Why? Something wrong?" Shaking your head you smiled. "I finally get to see my mother after eight years." Running down the street you waited, knowing she would have to come to Ivarstead to reach the Seven Thousand Steps. So it began.
"(F/N). Aren't you worried?" Gray asked you, watching you sit by the road. "No she will come." However despite that your voice caught in your throat. It had been days since the letter arrived, and the others seemed worried she had been hurt along the way. "Go on ahead I'll catch up in a couple minutes." You waved him off, silently praying to all of the nine Divines that your mother was alright. Standing you watched him leave, then the moment he was out of sight, you ran. Charging down the road, hoping you'd see a carriage or something to tell you she had come. You ran all night, going so far from Ivarstead, especially after dark. You had no choice, forward or stay. You chose forward.
"Well there was word of a carriage being attacked by the Imperials not too far from here." You had arrived in Falkreath late last night after following the road, and had been asking all the town guards about your mother. Thanking him for the information you ran off, praying once again to the Divines it wasn't her. It couldn't be, not after so long and getting so close. Finally you stopped, horrified by what you saw. There was a carriage, arrows sticking out of it from both sides, and scorched. Walking closer you couldn't identify the body's if you wanted to, they were charcoal. Kneeling down you checked each of them for any signs of who they were, then you finally found it. There was only a single woman out of the bodies on the carriage, and upon her neck rested an amulet of Talos. Checking the back the inscription brought tears to your eyes, confirming the worst of your fears, it was her. "Mom."
