Chapter 1: "What War?"

   DIANA'S POV

  "Mother, why must we sit here and act like everything's all right when it's not!! Mother, we must help them!!"

  My mother, Hippolyta, was one of the strongest people that I had ever known and a very skilled warrior, but even she could only see the realms of Themyscira.
  Once the man who called himself Steve Trevor made it known to us that there was a war taking place, Mother wished to act as if Themyscira was protected and would always remain protected. 

  What if Ares or the hatred of men was brought to our world? What, then?

  Mother turned to me as she said,"Diana, you have always been so kind and gentle, but you are distracted by things that are of no concern or worry here. Diana, how do we know that this Steve Trevor will not send any more of his kind here and destroy everything us, Amazons, have worked so hard to build. We have our own wars, Diana, and I want you to let this go. Let mankind slaughter each other, but I refuse to let any blood shed here. We will talk of this no further."

  I sighed and let Mother pass, and then I watched as her guard followed her back to the training grounds.

  I heard someone calling my name, but I turned to see Y/N. I smiled at my younger sibling, but I thanked the gods for every single day that we were able to spend together.
  Y/N wasn't as strong as I was, but she had a strong heart and soul that always kept her focused on the mission ahead of her.

  She made her way over to me before she said,"Do you think that Steve's telling the truth? I mean, I know that your Lasso of Truth's quite extraordinary and all, but what if he's just saying those things because he's a man? Mother said-"

  I cut Y/N off by saying,"No. I believe that this man's telling the truth, and I must go with him. The closer we get to the war, the closer we get to defeating Ares for good and putting an end to the destruction of mankind. Y/N, I respect Mother's wisdom and pride, but we can't do anything by staying put. I can't do anything by staying put. I must go to man's world."

  Y/N looked at me for a minute before she said,"I know that it'll end up in a battle for both of us if I try to get you to stay, so I'll avoid that at all costs. How will you leave without Mother knowing?"

  I smiled before I answered,"I will figure something out. Do you think that you can distract Mother while I go talk to this Steve Trevor? I have some questions to ask him, and I need to convince him to take me with him. Please?"

  Y/N nodded, and I thanked her before she grabbed my hand and said,"Diana?"

  I nodded, and Y/N shyly asked me,"Umm, this man you met, were there others with him? Maybe a brother?"

  I laughed before I answered,"I do not know, my dear sister, but I'll try to ask him in a civilized manner. Why?"

  Y/N cleared her throat before she said,"Well, I have always wondered what it was like to talk to an actual man. I'm not very good at talking or making sense."

  I put my hand on Y/N's shoulder as I said,"You have always made sense to me, Y/N. I better get to Steve. We don't have much time."

  Y/N nodded and then made her way to find Mother while I went to find Steve to question him. Find out more about this "war."

   Y/N'S POV

  Why did Diana always choose me to do the hard jobs? Why couldn't I just train or take a lovely ride through the island? No matter how disappointed I was that Diana didn't ask me to join her, I made it my duty to help her out in any way that I could.
  Maybe if I succeeded in my duties, then I could accompany Diana and the man. Just saying "the man," made me feel like Ares himself was standing while watching over my very shoulder.

  It caused me to turn a little, and I jumped, but then I remembered my current duty and ran to find Mother. Hopefully, she was still counseling the other secretaries and justices at the palace.
