Y/N'S POV
When I looked around, it appeared to be getting a little darker than earlier throughout the sky.
Back on Themyscira, I would stay up just gazing at the many stars with my mother as she often told me stories of the different goddesses that were once among our people.I would love to listen to the stories about how they helped their people, how their people came to admire them, and how their people supported them no matter what. Speaking of support, Mother always talked to me about taking my place as the Queen of Themyscira one day; however, I never wanted to tell her how I truly felt about it.
I never wanted to be the one to disappoint her.
Steve opened the door for Diana and me before we walked inside.
The volume increased immediately, and Steve said,"Right this way, ladies."
Diana said,"These are the reinforcements?"
Steve said,"Yep."
Then, Diana said,"Are these even good men?"
Steve answered Diana,"Hmm. Relatively."
Steve stopped walking as did Diana and me. While it might not have been appropriate, this place that we were at smelt of a scent that I wasn't too familiar with.
A minute later, Steve watched a group of men sitting at a booth while they conversed with one another.Diana turned to me before she asked,"What were you upset about, Y/N?"
I shook my head, and then I answered,"Nothing, Diana. Can we not speak of it here?"
Diana said,"Y/N. We need to. Something's bothering you, and I wish to know what it is. Mother said that we must stick together. We're sisters."
I opened my mouth to say something, but I was saved by Steve telling us that we had to keep moving.
Diana frowned, and I knew that she really wanted to help me, but I wanted to try to be strong on my own.I walked beside Steve before he stopped at a table full of men. I saw maybe two or three other women here, but two of them were laughing very loudly and speaking with the men at their table.
The other woman was serving the men who were sitting at the table that was much higher than all the other tables. Why would she wish to spend her time in a place like this?I turned back to hearing the man in the center of the table telling a story.
I listened closely until Steve said,"Boy! Which prince is that? But seriously, which prince? Hey, Sultan Angora Munx Cashmere, could I talk to you for a minute?"
Sultan, or whoever Steve referred to him as, walked up to Steve before saying,"You, bugger, I have been greasing those peacocks all night and you- Oh, my goodness gracious. That's a work of art."
Sultan looked at me directly, but there was something that unsettled me while being under his gaze.
Steve said,"Sultan, this is Y/N. Y/N, Sultan. Sultan, this is Diana Prince, Y/N's older sister."
Sultan kept his eyes on me, but he held out his hand as he said,"Hi, Y/N. You can call me Sammi, please."
Sultan moved towards my neck before I grabbed his arm tightly.
Immediately, he backed away from me, and Steve said,"Sameer's a top undercover man. He can talk the skin off a cat in as many languages as you can."
Steve looked at me, yet I wanted to test his logic.
I turned to Sameer before I recited to him,"Je ne crois pas à un homme qui se cache derrière de fausses histoires." (I do not trust a man who hides behind false stories.) French
