"Yes, but why would they set up there if their plan was to trap her here?" Lexi jabbed her finger into the wall, and the crack I heard was either from her finger or from the wall. The latter seemed possible.

Jameson sighed, running a hand over his face. I could tell that he was growing tired with this ongoing debate, as was I. Looking up at Jameson's bedside clock, I saw that we basically had missed dinner. So I stood up from the desk chair with a sigh—then almost collapsed.

Jameson, who had been facing Lexi and not me, immediately swung out his left arm and steadied me in his hold.

They both gave me a concerned look. "Are you okay?" Jameson asked, holding me close to him.

I nodded, though still dizzy. "Fine. I just need to eat. And to sleep."

Lexi stifled a laugh, "So basically all the usual human requirements?" She joked. But Jameson still held me, despite the fact that she was trying to lighten the mood.

"I'm fine," I assured him, "probably just stood up too fast," I concluded, though Jameson didn't look very convinced. "I'll go down a litre of water, and then we can go get some food." I broke out of his hold and started for the door.

"Don't drink a litre," Jameson called after me, but before he could continue, Lexi jumped in and finished for him.

"Yeah, you'll most probably die." She told me. The two shared a sharp stare of realisation. I think the two had only just noticed that they were guarding the same person.

Oh joy.

I slowly drank a bottle of water between drying and brushing my hair. Glancing into my vanity mirror, I looked like I hadn't slept in a century and a half. I sighed at my reflection and closed my eyes.

"You look fine." Someone said, shadowing over me. You're probably hoping it'd be Jameson.

I glanced at Lexi in the reflection of the mirror. No, wrong Guardian. "I don't know if you're talking to your own reflection or not." I tried to say it like a joke, but it came out like a comment of dismay.

"I agree with her—you do look fine." Jameson suddenly appeared. And there you have it—my other Guardian said it. Jameson flashed me a smile, which made one grow suddenly upon my lips.

"That 'her' has a name." Alexi retorted as she strode over to the door.

I hummed, running my fingers through my hair one last time before getting up off my vanity chair. "Yeah, I just thought that, as well as everything else, maybe that was a lie too." I shrugged. Jameson gave me a look that seemed to say "don't start". Too late, I already have.

I opened the door and left the dorm room. Lexi stayed behind, the shock of what I said still having her reeling back. Jameson walked beside me, matching my pace, though I knew that he could outrun me by miles in a matter of seconds if he stopped trying to be a gentleman.

Lexi finally caught up. "How aren't we over this yet?" She asked, clearly distressed as she threw her arms up in the air.

"Did you lock up?" Jameson asked, cutting off anything I would've said in response. Though, I have a feeling that perhaps that was his plan anyway.

"Did I–" Lexi pulled a disbelieved face, "–don't you think that this is more important?" She asked, gesturing between me and her. I couldn't see Jameson, but I had a feeling he was giving her an annoyed look, because she finally caved in.
