"NOOOO!!! NO! NO!"
"Anna!" Elsa ran into Anna's bedroom. She cradled her in her arms.
"It was me. Elsa, it was me..."
Elsa shook her head, "it won't be. I promise."
The 125th Games... the Fifth Quarter Quell. A few days ago, the newly elected President Fitch announced that this year's Quell would have the children of the District's officials as the tributes.
"How are you sure?" Anna asked.
Elsa smiled, "first of all, dad and mum aren't the only district official with children. The District Secretary, the treasurer, the Public Relations Officer. They all have kids."
Anna nodded.
Elsa smiled, "hey."
She removed her glove and created a snowflake necklace. She placed her glove back and put the necklace on Anna. "For luck."
"How did you?" Anna asked, amazed.
"Been practising." Elsa replied, "now c'mon. Let's get ready."
~
Anna and Elsa walked out of their home in their reaping attire. Anna in a medium pink dress with white scattered here and there. She had her hair up in a braided bun. Elsa wore a long, medium blue dress with matching gloves. She had her hair in a French braided crown bun. Both of them wore brown boots.
They took their positions in the square. this year, they sat in the middle with all the other officials' kids in a roped off area.
The escort for their district, a certain Flaria Corila, took her place on the stage. She repeated the same speech she said last year, then "ladies first."
She reached into the glass ball for the girls that only had like, ten names. One of them had the name 'Elsa Arendelle' and another had 'Anna Arendelle' in them.
Flaria opened the paper she took. She read the name aloud. Everyone held their breath.
"And this year's female tribute is... Anna Arendelle."
Anna stood there in shock. Suddenly, it got cold.
"Seems like a sudden draft." Flaria said, peppily.
Elsa felt a pain like a punch.
No...
NO!!!
She came back from her daze and saw Anna being escorted onto the stage.
"NO!"
All the people in the square looked at Elsa.
"Anna! ANNA! NO WAIT!"
A group of peacekeepers grabbed her arms to escort her away.
"No! ANNA!"
It started snowing.
"ANNA! ANNA!!! I VOLUNTEER!"
The peacekeepers stopped as Elsa freed herself and stood straight, "I, Elsa Arendelle, volunteer as tribute in place of my sister, Anna Arendelle."
Anna ran toward Elsa, "Elsa, please don't."
Elsa shook her head, choking her tears, "I'm sorry. I already did."
"Elsa..."
The peacekeepers took Elsa onstage.
"Elsa!"
Anna was dragged back to the roped off area.
Flaria smiled her phony smile, "snow? Ahaha!! That's just wonderful!"
She walked over to the glass ball that held the names of the boys. Her hand dipped in, pulled out a handful of paper, then shook off the others until only one remained.
She walked over to the mic.
"Landon Price."
A duo of peacekeepers ushered the brown haired boy onstage.
"Now, shake hands you two." Flaria told them.
Elsa, shaking, shook Landon's hand- with her gloves and all.
"Now, c'mon!" Flaria said, queerily.
~
Elsa waited in the empty room. Ice started creeping up from where she sat.
"You have five minutes..." came a voice. Elsa looked up as Anna entered.
"Anna!"
"Elsa!"
The sisters hugged each other, refusing to let go.
"Elsa, why did you volunteer for me?" Anna asked.
Elsa released her sister from her hug, "I can't let you go into the arena, you'll die!"
"But then you will!" Anna protested.
"You'll be safer with me gone." Elsa explained.
Anna shook her head, "no, Elsa. Please. You can fight! You can... you can freeze everything and win!"
Elsa shook her head, "I can't Anna. If I do, the Capitol might do something to you, mum, and dad. It might be cheating!"
Anna smiled, "it isn't cheating, Elsa. Cheating is when you take a weapon from outside to inside the arena. And besides, you haven't trained for the Games in any way."
Elsa nodded, "I'll try."
"Use any weapon you could find." Anna added, "you'll have an advantage of being able to create your weapon."
Elsa nodded.
"Elsa," Anna told her through tears, "promise me you'll win, that you'll come home the victor. Promise?"
"Time's up!" a peacekeeper boomed as he entered and dragged Anna out.
"No! No, wait!" Anna shouted.
Elsa ran at the peacekeeper and Anna. The peacekeeper slammed the door.
"NO!" Elsa shouted, she hit the door with her left hand, "ANNA? ANNA, I PROMISE!"
She slid her hand down and realised that the door now had snowflake patterns on it made from ice.
Elsa looked at the doorknob. It was a shiny, brass colour. It looked like gold.
She reached for it, but before she could turn the knob, it turned by itself and a boy with white hair in a blue sweater, grey trousers, and... barefoot? entered.
"Who are you?" Elsa asked.
The boy looked outside, then he closed and locked the door.
"No time." he said, abruptly.
Elsa shrugged, "no time?"
"Listen, Elsa." he said sternly, grabbing her shoulders, "the rebellion is starting. You have sacrificed yourself for your sister, the Capitol didn't like that."
His icy, blue eyes pierced through Elsa.
"The what?" Elsa asked.
The boy continued, ignoring Elsa's question, "be careful where you stand, Elsa. We've been watching you."
"We?" Elsa asked.
The doorknob turned.
The boy put on a dark blue jacket, and before zipping it up, he looked at Elsa in the eyes.
"I was never here." he proclaimed, as he zipped up his jacket, disappearing.
Elsa wondered whether she had an illusion, or what happened really did happen.
The peacekeeper entered the room with Landon. Landon looked at the room, shocked at the ice and snow around them. The peacekeeper, however, didn't really care.
"Time to go." the peacekeeper said, indifferently.
Elsa nodded and followed.
"What happened?" Landon asked.
Elsa shrugged.
