Keefe:
I woke up to Sophie staring at the wall. She was so tense, I could feel the anxiety building up in her. I sat up into a sitting position and placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Hey, whatever it is it'll be okay. You'll get through it, you always do," I said gently.
"Three years, we were gone for three years! You-you had to stay there for three years," She said turning her head to the side.
"Hey, it's fine. I'm back! We're safe. And besides, no one can hold the Keefester captive for to long," I said with a smirk.
"Keefe, this is different. You-you can't just joke about it. It was three years, who knows what could've happened, or what could've changed," Sophie said shrugging away from me.
She rolled back over and went back to sleep.
Well that's one way to end a conversation.
I couldn't help but not understand why Sophie was so sad. Yes, it was three years, and yes, a lot can happen in three years, but we're still alive. Isn't that amazing enough? Shouldn't we be focusing on our recovery instead of what could've happened?
I sound way to much like Elwin. I shivered just thinking about it.
Sighing, I glanced back over at Sophie's sleeping form, and rolled over, shutting my eyes.
~~~
I was up before Sophie, and I started exploring the room. I knew it was familiar but I couldn't place it until I saw the banshee. We were back at Foxfire.
However, the first thing on my mind after that discovery, was one beautiful, amazing thing. No, not Foster, although she is that and much more. I was thinking about FOOD!
It had been a long time since I had a blitzberry muffin or an avocot! Sophie says avocots taste like cheese stakes, whatever that is.
Carefully, trying not to disturb Sophie, I started screaming for Elwin.
Maybe not the best idea, for he came running in scared to death.
"What happened? Who's dying? Is someone hurt? Why is there a hole in your pants?" Elwin asked.
"Oh, I forgot to change," I said.
"Oh, I see. Now who's dying?" Elwin asked, getting all doctor mode.
"I am. I mean my stomach is. Do you have any food?" I asked with a big cheesy smile.
Elwin's face fell, "You know where the cafeteria is! Next time, only scream if it's an emergency. And Fitz dropped off some clothes for you."
I nodded and quickly got changed. Sophie was asleep, so I didn't bother changing in the closet. It's dark and cold in there, don't judge me!
I went to the cafeteria wearing the Flareadon gold uniform. I didn't realize school was in session, so when everyone stopped eating to stare at me, I was shocked.
I looked over my shoulder, trying to see if anyone was dying behind me, before putting on my signature smirk.
I gave a little wave, and headed to the lunch line. Okay, I know I should be mature, but I was basking in the attention. It wasn't everyday the lunch lady gave you two servings of avocot!
Dex ran up to me and gave me a hug, the kid even started crying.
"I'm so glad you're okay! When did you get back? What happened? Is Sophie here?" Dex asked worriedly after he dried his eyes.
"Yesterday. Didn't anyone tell you? Sophie rescued me and I guess herself too," I said mulling over the idea.
"She is? When can I see her! Biana's going to freak!" Dex smiled, his dimples already showing.
"She already knows. She was there when Sophie woke up yesterday. Are you sure no one told you?" I asked.
Dex's smile fell.
"No, no one told me." He said looking at Biana who was laughing with her friends.
"Hey, how about you come on back with me. We can talk, I really need to get my prank rep. back," I said with a shrug, carrying my tray back to the room.
Dex didn't say anything and followed me back.
"So, what did I miss out on?" I asked.
"Well, Biana and I--" Dex was cut off by a loud squeal.
"DEX! Where were you yesterday? I missed you so so much!" Sophie gushed as she tackled him in a hug.
"I didn't know about it. No one told me," He said with a smile returning the hug.
"I wish she was that happy to see me," I joked as I watched the exchange.
Sophie looked at me and said, "I was."
I could feel a wave of hurt.
"I was just teasing, I knew you were happy to see me," I said with a reassuring smile.
Dex glanced back and forth between us.
"Well, matchmaking is happening. Everyone has been getting their scrolls lately. They'll probably have to redo all of it since you guys weren't here and the results would be rigged." Dex said with a thoughtful look on his face.
Elwin stampeded into the room.
"Here are your matchmaking applications. Don't rush, but they need to be done in three days. Now, how am I going to tell everyone that they should burn their scrolls? Aha! Make the locker taste like burning wood and then on the announcements...." Elwin rambled as he walked out of the room.
"Well, that was fast," I mumbled as I started looking at the questions.
I mentally face palmed when I read the first question: What's your favorite color?
A/N: OOH!!! MATCHMAKING?!?!?! WHAT??? That doesn't sound like Tapqueen101 content! Anyway, the one thing that bothers me is when people write fanfic about matchmaking and for instance, cause I can, Sophie and Keefe both got each other as their number one. That's not how it works. Grady and Edaline were 7 and 10 I think on one. So Grady's scroll has Edaline as number 7, and Edaline had Grady as number 10. It bothers me because the chances that they both are number one are REALLY small. SO, yeah that's me ranting about that.
NO OFFENSE TO ANYONE WHO DID THAT!!! YOU ALL ARE PROBABLY AMAZING WRITERS! THAT IS JUST MY PERSONAL PET PEEVE!
ANYWAY THANKS FOR READING!!! As always:
