I woke up to a loud knock on my door.
"Sophie!" I heard my mom shout.
"Uh, what time is it?" I groaned.
"Time for you to get out of bed!" She laughed.
I rolled over with another groan.
"And Keefe's here," she added.
"Wait, what?" I shouted, bolting out of bed.
"Hey Foster," Keefe added.
"What's he doing here?" I hissed running to my closet.
"I don't know, maybe he's taking you out?" Mom said through the door.
"Yes, I'm really enjoying this conversation of you two acting like I'm not in the room, or behind the door. It doesn't really matter," he rambled with a nervous laugh.
I tossed on the first tunic I could find, and started yanking up my pants. Me, being the elephant on rollerskates I am, tripped while trying to wiggle into the pants. That resulted in a laughing Keefe, a worried mom, a crash, and a bruised body.
"Still falling for me Foster?" I heard Keefe joke.
"Shut up," I mumbled while slipping on my shoes, swinging open the door, and forgetting about my bed head.
Keefe's amused grin was gone with a more shocked one.
"What? What did I do now?" I groaned looking down.
He tried to keep a serious expression when I realized what I was wearing.
"Sophie, where'd you get that tunic? It's two sizes too big," she asked puzzled.
Keefe looked like he was trying not to explode in a fit of giggles, I glared at him.
"Honey, you are perfectly healthy. Don't tell me you're doing that thing that humans do--"
"No mom. I like mallowmelt too much," I ended the conversation just as my face reached its max heating point.
"Stay safe," she called as I hurried to shut the door.
I gave him my death glare, "Don't you dare--"
He started laughing.
"Out of all the things in your closet?" He said between laughs.
I couldn't stay mad for too long and started laughing too.
I felt his arm go around my waist, bringing us closer together as we walked to the Leap Master.
"Just so you know, I think it suits you," he whispered with a amused glint in his eyes.
I pushed him playfully, "Shut up."
"I also like the roll-out-of-bed hairdo. It's growing on me," he said feigning seriousness.
"Well maybe if I had a little heads up," I trailed off.
"Tada!" Keefe said as he ran out in front of me with jazz hands.
Behind him was a giant elephant, and yes it was blue.
"I got Dex to make an elixar," he said as I stared at it, my mouth falling open.
"You got me a blue elephant!" I squealed.
I ran over to him, gave him a big hug, and pecked his cheek.
"Can we ride it?" I whispered, but cringed afterwards. I sounded like a timid girl who was wondering if it was safe to drink bleach.
Keefe's arm was around my shoulder and he laughed, "I'd hope so. I really don't feel like dealing with the whole refund policy so, yeah."
He walked over to the elephant and said something. It immediately obeyed and laid down so we could get on.
He took my hand and helped me up onto the back, and he got behind me.
"Okay, so your going to slowly raise the reigns," he whispered, his hands were on top of mine and his breath touched my cheek.
I did as he said and suddenly we were moving. I was riding an elephant!
"What's her name?" I whispered.
"Well, I couldn't find an Ella, but hers is Cleopatra," he whispered.
"Why are we whispering?" I laughed.
"I don't know," he whispered.
I leaned back against his chest, and I felt him let out a shaky breath.
"Thank you," I said.
"For what?"
"For everything you do," I said.
"I don't do that much," he reasoned.
I snorted and teased him, "Lies! You do a lot for everyone but yourself, most of the time. You are really kind underneath your smirk."
"I love you Sophie," he said suddenly and the elephant and I stopped moving.
Keefe stopped breathing, I think.
I turned my head so I could see him.
"What?" I asked.
"Hmm?" He played dumb, but he wasn't looking at me.
"What did you say?" I asked.
He looked at me, and all playfulness was gone, replaced with a serious expression.
"I-" he breathed deeply, "I love you."
I smiled and faced forward. There was an awkward silence.
"Um, Sophie?" Keefe asked nervously.
"Yes?" I asked.
"This is the part where you either make or break my heart," he added.
I let out a laugh, and Keefe laughed nervously.
"What's so funny?" He asked.
"You feeling nervous?" I asked.
"Um, yeah," he stated obviously.
"Well you shouldn't be," I shrugged.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
I turned to face him.
"It means that I love you too, you idiot," I laughed.
He looked away from me with a far off look and a small smile. I kissed his cheek and we rode Cleopatra in a comfortable silence.
Hands down, best day ever, and not because I got to ride a blue elephant.
