I woke up with an excited feeling in my stomach. Keefe was choosing his job with me today. I'd graduated from the Silver Towers a month ago, and my performances were hectic. I had to teleport into the building and project the top moments of that year with the other Telepaths. Then, I had to inflict the emotions that went with those moments on the crowd with the other Inflictors. We also had a chance to mimic and poke fun at certain people as Polygots.

Smelling something delightful, I walked into the kitchen with a yawn.

"Mornin' Foster!" Keefe said in a country accent, smiling, as he looked over at me. He was cooking something on the stove.

I walked over and hugged him from behind, standing on my tiptoes trying to see over his shoulder.

"Whatcha cooking?" I yawned.

"A Grimbleroot sauce for the Lements," he hummed quietly, before running over and pulling food out of the oven.

There were a dozen little squares of flaky Lements. Lements were made from a special berry in the Lost Cities that reminded me of Lemon squares. However, they were more tart and Keefe put a special tiny leaf on his for decoration. The Grimbleroot sauce was a rich purple blue translucent sauce that you dipped, or poured over the Lemets.

"What's the special occasion?" I asked, poking him in the ribs.

"We're signing up for our jobs today! And, a special breakfast for Madame, for good luck," he winked, making me laugh.

"Now I feel terrible! I didn't do anything for you! Where's your good luck?"

"It's right in front of me."

I may have blushed at that, and busied myself with setting the table.

Keefe decided to drown his Lemets in the sauce, whereas I dipped mine in or drizzled the sauce on nicely.

"I can't believe you take that much time to make it look nice if you're only going to eat the whole thing!" Keefe complained, teasingly.

"And I can't believe you drown yours in the sauce!"

I made a zig zag pattern on my next one, when Keefe tilted the pan down.

"Oops!"

I glared at him, "You just drowned it!"

"Just try it, I promise it's better this way!" Keefe said, giving me a pointed look.

I stared at him, feigning annoyance, and took a bite. Yeah right, drowning it just takes away from the overall flavors--but it tasted amazing.

Keefe stared at me expectantly, a smirk on his face.

I just shrugged, not wanting to fuel his ego, "Eh, it's okay."

"Yes, because Mallowmelt isn't the best dessert in the whole wide world," he pointed out.

When he wasn't looking, I may have drowned my next square.

"You ready?" Keefe whispered, his arm around my side, pulling me closer.

"No," I mumbled, nervously fiddling with the necklace he gave me oh so many years ago.

"You'll do great! I promise," he said, stealing a quick kiss.

"You don't know that!"

"Yes I do! You're Foster, the amazing talented extraordinaire!"
