Chapter 8

Serena's POV

'Okay, someone please tell me what the hell is going on.' I said, perfectly calmly over the sounds of machines working around me. 'Because this is abduction. You've trapped me in some kind of box that's smaller on the outside and you're taking me somewhere. And you're a crazy guy with a box, the last left of your fam... You're not human at all, are you? Like that monkey.' I indicated to the Space Monkey perched on Newbie's shoulder. 'You're... The last of your kind, everyone else is... Gone. And it hurts you, inside.'

'Well, most people go with 'bigger on the inside'.' Said Newbie.

'Whatever!' My voice was still calm.

'Yeah, and you're surprisingly calm,' said Newbie's mum, an only child who met the not-human guy when she was six, she met Newbie's dad and fell in love with him, and they ran off on the night before their wedding... And now they're back here, with the not-human guy. She had a Scottish accent - so, that's where she lived - and then, they moved to London, of course.

'And introductions wouldn't hurt. Just your names, I don't need your life story - I already know it.' I said.

'Well, I'm The Doctor,' said the mad man with the box.

'Amy,' said Newbie's red-headed mother.

'Rory.' Said Newbie's dad.

'And where am I?' I asked.

'The TARDIS!' Exclaimed The Doctor proudly.

'The what?'

'His space ship. It travels through time. He 'borrowed' it.' Said Newbie, making air quotes with her fingers around the word 'borrowed'.

'I did borrow it!' Exclaimed The Doctor. 'For a really, really, really, really, really, really, really long time.'

I rolled my eyes.

'And where are we going?'

'Raxacoricofallipatorius!' Exclaimed The Doctor.

'What?' Said myself, Amy, Rory and Newbie simultaneously, but with different tones - mine was questioning, theirs were surprised and shocked.

'Slitheen planet.' Said The Doctor.

'Slitheen?'

'Big, stinky green things, hide on earth in human skins, kill 'em off with vinegar.' The Doctor said simply.

'Why would we go there?' Newbie gasped.

'The scenery.' Said The Doctor. 'It's surprisingly pretty.'

'Really?' Asked Newbie.

'Yeah.'

'Well, okay, then.' Said Rory.

'Spaceships?' I said to Newbie, to clarify that I heard it all right.

'Yes.'

'Time travel?'

'Yes.'

'Crazy alien man?'

'Time Lord.'

'Last of his kind?'

'How'd you know that.'

'I read him.' I said simply.

Newbie raised her eyebrows.

'Lily! Serena!' I heard Amy say from behind us.

'Yeah, we're here, come on!' Said Rory.

We exited the TARDIS and were greeted by a strangely beautiful sight. It shouldn't have been beautiful - but it was.

There were valleys, trees and mountains, very green and peaceful. Above us, the sky was black - I didn't know where the light came from. Or the heat. It was quite warm, but not too humid or stuffy.

And it stank.
