Chapter 18

Serena's POV

'So,' I said, after Amy, Rory and The Doctor had finished hugging myself and Lily. I never understood why people had to be so... Touchy. Wouldn't a simple, 'I'm glad you're okay,' suffice? 'Secret Emergency Start button on the outside of the TARDIS?' It was more of a statement than a question.

'Pretty much,' said Lily, as The Doctor started flipping switches and pressing buttons, starting the TARDIS's engines.

'Where to now, Doctor?' Asked Amy.

'Who knows?' Exclaimed The Doctor.

'Why do I bother asking?' Amy muttered.

'Mum, are you pregnant?' Lily suddenly burst out.

Amy's eyes moved to Lily's, eying her up and down.

'How did you know that?'

Lily was about to say something about how it was a guess, but I chimed in. Lily was a terrible liar. 'She didn't know - I did.'

'Oh,' said Amy, looking slightly more relaxed. 'Well, I'd ask how you knew, but I'm guessing you 'read' it?' There was no hostility in her voice.

I smiled mysteriously.

'Hang on a minute, Amy, you're pregnant?' Rory said.

'Little bit,' Amy muttered awkwardly.

'But... When were you planning on telling me?'

'Umm, now?' It came out as a question.

'But... How...' Rory spluttered, but then gave up.

'Rightey-oh!' Said The Doctor, and we felt the jolt as the TARDIS landed.

'Is anyone else slightly scared to go outside?' Lily said.

'Terrified.' Replied Amy.

'Why?' I said.

'Why? Remember what happened on that last planet?' Rory exclaimed.

'I'll go, easy!' I said excitedly. Truth be told, I just wanted to see where we were now - what new planet we would explore next.

I opened the TARDIS door, despite the calls from behind me tells me to be careful, and was greeted by a land of metal.

Engraved onto the floor inches from the TARDIS was a single word that, although it meant nothing to me, sent a shiver down my spine.
