Serena's POV

'Mondas?' I said. 'Another planet? Wow, Doctor, now you're just stringing me along?'

'Problem?' Said Lily.

'Sherlock and John will think that Science homework at the Hospital was actually difficult, seeing as I've been gone so long.' Lily was about to respond, but I said it for her. 'I know this is a time machine and we can make it seem like I've only been gone for five minutes, but - well, you know what I mean.'

'It's not stringing you along,' said Lily, slightly defensively. 'It's making life a hell of a lot more interesting.'

'I work with Scotland Yard's most senior detectives on the highest and lowest profile cases, the most challenging murders, and I've seen things that even you wouldn't believe. It's pretty interesting.'

Lily seemed lost for words. 'Yeah, well... I've seen aliens.'

'So have I.'

My brain was created to be pushed to the very limit by seeing and reading every tiny detail, by learning more in a day than an average person would learn in a year. Not to be thrown onto other planets and meet weird-ass aliens, and be taken to a hunch of planets before they even asked if I wanted to go. More and more planets...

Even if it was interesting at first - or, at least, with the Daleks. A bit. - it wasn't as mind-bending as a good case.

'Anyway, what's Mondas?' Said Lily.

'Cyberman planet.' Replied The Doctor. 'Well, I have no idea what happens here now, but it used to be the Cybermen's planet, at least.'

'Why would you fly yourself onto the Cyberman planet?' Said Amy.

'I wanted to see what happened to it.' Replied The Doctor.

We all walked up to the door, and followed The Doctor out.

The sight of grey clouds of smoke greeted us. There seemed to be a lot of wreckage. 'Well, Doctor, you happy?' Said Amy, wrapping her arms around her body to keep herself warm. I never really felt heat.

The Doctor just bounded off, so we had to follow.

We came to a damaged-looking building. It looked quite dangerous - so, of course, we went in through the wrecked front door.

There was a lot of metal.

The room we entered was less dusty and cloudy than it had been outside, and the floor felt more solid. There was a staircase leading down to the left, so we descended into a very dark basement room.

River quickly produced six torches from I-don't-know-where, but we each took one from her nonetheless.

'Robots?' I said, after we had reached the bottom of the staircase.

'Cybermen.' Lily corrected me, using a tone of voice that said, Get it right! or I know more than you!

Of course she did - it was my first day!

It made me wonder how she'd hold up on a murder scene.

Using the torchlight to illuminate the small particles of dust that floated in the air around us with six golden beams, I could see two rows of white, reclined chairs, one on either side of us, lined against the wall. I couldn't see the end of the room. Lying back on each of the chairs was a metal robot.

Ignoring the warnings and the, 'You probably shouldn't!''s from the others, I walked straight over to the first Cyberman to my right.

And yanked it's arm off.

'No, don't do that, they'll wake up!' Exclaimed Lily. But I knew they wouldn't - they were robots, so they were probably 'switched off'.

I examined the arm with my eyes. The wires that sprung from the end like the roots of the tree. Just from examining the wires, I could easily replicate the design of the arm. But, from the way Amy and Lily had spoken earlier, it seemed as though this generation of Cybermen was not the most 'updated' level of Cybermen. They could upgrade themselves to newer generations in order to always be strong, to lower their levels of weakness. It wasn't just the electrical wiring that told me the things I noticed about the Cybermen. I could tell that their appearances changed with each 'upgrade' as well as their strengths. These Cybermen were only the first 'generation' of Cybermen - there must be many more.

What I wouldn't give to examine the latest model...
