Serena's POV

I didn't say that because I was scared. Of course I wasn't scared - why would I be scared? It wasn't an emotion that I generally felt.

It was because the only possible solution that I could think of here was very risky - I didn't know if it would work or not.

Logically and theoretically, it would. But I didn't know if the 'they can't move if you're looking at them' thing meant that it had to be humans or not.

'Keep your eyes on them.' I said to Lily. I didn't bother whispering - if they could hear us, we were dead anyway, but they were stone. I doubt they could.

But, there was no point. They were engaging us - a ring of angels surrounded us, and a ring of angels surrounded the ring of angels, and there was a third ring of angels on the outside. Myself and Lily were standing with our backs pressed into a tree. We couldn't keep our eyes on all of the angels at once.

'I'm trying to!' Said Lily.

'Now, when I say go,' I said, deciding to take a risk with my plan. 'Follow me. Make sure you don't touch any of them.'

'What?' Lily exclaimed, as if I were crazy.

'Go!' I said, before she had time to think.

I darted towards the angels.

Through the small gap between two of the stone creatures. Then, to the left slightly, through another gap. And finally, back to the right a few inches, and through a third gap. I could hear the thud of Lily's feet hitting the ground behind me - my steps were silent. It was something you got used to - moving silently, I mean - after being Sherlock's daughter for long enough. You know, sneaking around crime scenes, and whatever else.

As soon as I had got outside the third ring of angels, I ran a few more steps to give Lily space to come through. Then, I just looked back at the angels.

'Why aren't they coming for us?' Said Lily incredulously. 'They should have touched us by now! Why haven't they?'

'Because,' I said. 'Look at them.'

'Look at what?'

'Don't be so ignorant and stupid. Look at them!'

'What?'

'They're standing in perfect circles.'

She gave me a look as if to say, so?

I rolled my eyes.

'They can't move if someone is looking at them. Well, now they're all looking at each other.' I explained.

'How did you know that would work?' Lily gasped.

'I didn't.' Was my simple reply.

'You. Stupid. Idiot.'

She may have used a very different word in the place of 'stupid'.

'I know I am.'

Lily just rolled her eyes.

'We should probably get going.' I said. 'More angels will come, and I'm thinking these ones will realise they're only looking at each other.'

'So, how long have you known The Doctor?'

'You're being weird again.'

'How?' I said, taken aback.

'You're actually trying to talk to me.' Said Lily. 'You don't do that. It's just, F off, or, you're not my friend.'

'When have I ever said that?'

'Plenty of times!'

I shrugged - there was no point in denying it. 'You're talking to the girl who dyes or cuts her hair when she gets bored.' My hair was just pink now - and a few inches shorter. Because I had dyed and cut it again before we came here.

'What does that have to do with it?'

'It tells you that I frequently change my mind about things - the way I look the way I act.' Okay, I know I was trying to be friends with Lily - but come on. She really did miss out on some of the most obvious things.

Like most people did.

Lily just raised her eyebrows to acknowledge my statement. 'Once again. You're being weird. You don't like me!'

'Did you know that Amy's pregnant?' I said, to quickly change the subject.

'No, she's not!'

'Yeah, she is.' I said simply.

'Why would she be... But her and Rory... They don't...'

I laughed.

'But, she would've told us...'

'Has she ever had a chance?' I said. 'But, look at her. Whenever she moves, or falls over, she tries to protect her stomach. And the way she speaks to you, The Doctor and Rory - it's as if she's on the edge of telling you something, but there's always a reason not to.'

Lily was silent for a moment.

'You probably shouldn't have said that.'

'She's only about two months into it.' I said simply, and added, 'Just ask her if she's pregnant. I'll bet she is.'

'How would you know that? Did she tell you?'

'No. I already told you, I just read things from people.'

'I still don't understand that.'

'I just look at people,' I said, 'and read them.'

'It's not that simple.'

'Yes, it is.' I said, as a now-familiar blue box entered my line of vision. 'Oh, look, we're back. I guess we just have to wait for the others.'

'Well, let's just wait inside.' Said Lily, going over to pull on the door. 'Crap,' she muttered, pulling on the door harder.

'What?'

'He must have locked it! He never locks it!'

'Lily...'

She kept pulling on the door.

'Lily, turn around!'

She did.

Hundreds of angels stood in front of us.
