Chapter 26

Serena's POV

'Come on!' Said Oswin's voice. It came through the transmitter - but the Dalek that stood in front of us spoke simultaneously. 'Come through!'

The Doctor was staring the Dalek in awe, analysing it with his eyes. The Dalek was chained to the wall, unable to move - The Doctor had never seen anything like it, of course, as was evident by his expression.

'Where's Oswin?' Said Lily.

I rolled my eyes - she was so ignorant! 'She's the Dalek!'

'What?' Said Lily, staring at the Dalek.

'What? No, I'm not. Just come through, you'll see!'

'Oswin,' I said. 'Earlier, I asked where you got the milk and eggs for the soufflé.'

'Yeah, and I told you, I get them from the fridge. Look, if it's so important, just come through, I'll show you!'

'Oswin, you don't have any milk or any eggs.' Said The Doctor.

'Well, that's not something a girl wants to hear.' Joked Oswin.

'This is all in your mind.' He said.

'I'm sorry?' The Doctor had dropped the transmitter now - we spoke the the Dalek.

It was evident that The Doctor had never heard a Dalek say the word, 'sorry,' before now, even if it wasn't to apologise.

'You're a Dalek, Oswin.' Said The Doctor.

'Was that a Harry Potter reference?' Said myself and Lily simultaneously, but we didn't laugh - it wasn't a very funny situation.

'You must be mistaken,' said Oswin.

'No, I'm not,' said The Doctor. 'You're a Dalek, but you're smart, too smart to be converted fully, so you created something within your mind - a dream, so that you didn't have to deal with becoming a Dalek.'

'Ex... Ex...' Stuttered the Dalek - Oswin, I corrected myself.

But she was a Dalek now.

We woke her up.

'Ext... Er... Min... Ate...' Said the Dalek. But something faint came from the transmitter - 'Run, you clever boy. And remember...'

'Run!' I shouted, and we turned and ran through the door. Rory stumbled under the weight of Amy, so The Doctor took her in his arms. Rory didn't complain - we'd all get out of here more quickly if he didn't waste that time.

We bolted through the room behind us, and pillars began crashing down behind us. Fire blazed, following us through the rooms.

'Come on! Beam us out of here!' The Doctor yelled exasperatedly once we reached the place where the Daleks were supposed to get us back onto Skaro.

Seconds before a pillar crashed in a ball if fire, everything disappeared from behind me, and, moments later, the Dalek Parliament appeared around us.

'Ah! Well, we've done what you asked.' Said The Doctor, his voice turning cold again. 'We'll be going now.' The TARDIS stood in front of us, and The Doctor went to open the door, but something made him turn back for a few moments before we left.

'Who are you?' Said the robotic voice of a Dalek.

'I'm The Doctor.' He said, his voice cold, but something else underlay it... Why did The Dalek ask who he was?

And why did the whole Parliment, not just the Dalek Prime Minister, begin chorusing these two words?

'Doctor Who?'
