"He's a orange and white BB unit, one of a kind," Poe explained in a louder voice as he steered the TIE Fighter back to the planet of Jakku. He didn't enjoy the hot, dense atmosphere that was suffocating to breathe in most of the time and was still difficult on supposed 'good days.' However, there was no way that he was going to leave BB-8 down there alone, especially with the information he now held. First off, BB-8 was his best friend, and second off he was important to the Rebellion.
Finn let out an exasperated sigh from behind Poe. "I don't care what color he is! Why does everyone want to go back to Jakku? The First Order is already swarming that place. We can't go back."
"Look, a map that leads to Luke Skywalker is in that droid," Poe reported over his shoulder as he flicked some switches on the control panel.
Finn looked like he wanted to crawl out of his skin. He narrowed his eyes and threw his hands up. "Oh come on!" Finn smacked his hand against the controls in front of him. "We can't go back! We have to—"
Suddenly, the ship quaked as it was hit with the first shot. Fire exploded outside as the heat filled the inside of the cockpit, shattering the front first visor and bending the metal due to the force of the impact, leaving the integrity of the only remaining structure that kept space from invading them, weakened beyond repair at best. The TIE started to twist and flip every which way, hurtling toward the surface of the planet below.
Poe's stomach suddenly churned and the swirling stars of space outside wasn't helping his equilibrium. He had been in numerous situations like this before, but something about the way that they were hurtling dizzyingly forward made everything different. The fire started to glow hotter and more vibrant as they were hit again, this time from the other side.
Poe felt as if his body was burning from the inside out. He managed to wretch his head sideways as he noticed that fire was steadily trying to burn his jacket. He managed to raise another hand and tapped it, only managing to burn his hand. Poe flinched as his head suddenly snapped against the back of the headrest. Blood started to trickle from the back of Poe's head and ran down the back of his neck.
Jakku started to whizz into view and Poe felt as if his skin was going to burn off. He gasped in surprise as his eyes started to roll back in his head. There was a flash of white before everything went black.
