We finally reached the house. I walked in and so did Sophie. I headed upstairs and Sophie just sat down on the couch staring into space, zoning out I guess. I ignored her. I went to the bathroom and took my shower. After that, I went downstairs to eat lunch. I saw her. Looking down. Wait, is she crying? What's going on? I walked to her. "Sophie, are you ok?" I said. She didn't answer. Obviously she is not ok. Stupid me. "Is it school?" I asked. She didn't answer. I sat down. I got closer to her and I wrapped my arms around her. She was shocked that she jumped a little. I think she needed that. She looked at me. She lay down on my chest. I too was shocked. I can hear her crying. I know it. She was down. "Shhhh... there there. It's alright. I'm here. Just let it all out." I said while rubbing her back. She cried even louder and hugged me tighter. I kept rubbing her back. "It's okay, just let it all out." I said, comforting her. She cried. I can feel her pain. I'm guessing it's school. I can feel that she had a hard time learning. I know that feeling. The feeling that you didn't even understand on anything and you think that you're useless. I can feel it that's the thing that's being bothering her today.
She stopped crying. We let go of the hug. "Ok. Tell me, what is your problem? School?" I said. She nodded. "It's ok. I'm here, to guide you and we can do it." I said. "Sometimes I feel like I want my old life back. Without hardness, just physical but not mental." She said, looking down, rubbing her tears. I can feel that I too was about to cry but pull together. It's not me it's her. "It's ok, we can do this bit by bit. Not everything last very long." I said. "Like stress, eventually it will fade away, but, just for now, hold on and keep going and never give up." I said. I got closer to her and wiped her tears. "Don't worry, be patient, be happy and be positive. Ok?" I said. Wiping her tears. She stopped crying. Then she smiled a little. "Atta girl." I said, cheering her up. "Thanks for the inspiring words." She said as she punched me lightly on the arm. "Don't know what I'll do without you." I blushed as she said that. Then she lay down on my chest. I blushed. But I acted cool. She giggled. "What's so funny?" I asked. "Your heartbeat, it's fast. You nervous or something?" She asked. I shooked my head. "What! Me?! Nervous? Nah!" I said, nervously. "Yeah right." She said, still hugging me.
"Um, Sophie? Can you let go of me? I want to get lunch." I asked. "Just a little bit longer?" She said. Her eyes sparkled. I blushed. She hugged me a little tighter. I sighed. "Alright, five more minutes then it's lunch time." I said. She smiled. "Yay!!!" She said, cheerfully. Looks like I won't be able to get out of this hug for a while. That's good. Now that's the Sophie I know. Even though we just knew each other for such a short time but still, I can know her attitude and this is her attitude that I know and loved. Wait, loved? Man, what's wrong with me?
Time Skipped To Dinner
After lunch we did our homework and I tought her on the subject we just learned. I'm surprised, she is a very fast learner. Way faster than me. I better watch out. She could be way better than me one day. I'm expecting that. It'll be fun being second when you know that the person close to you is first. It makes it more fun and challenging. We head downstairs and we sat down on the table. "Son, Sophie how was your school today?" Said Mother. "Yeah ,son tell us. You too Sophie." Said Father, chuckled. "Well, today was great, just like usual." I said. "Today was not bad, but thanks to Brian, he helped me to understand." Said Sophie.
"Well that's our son." Said Father. "Always like to help those in need." I looked at him. He was looking at me then to Sophie, then back to me and back to Sophie. Wait, is he, comparing us to something? Yeah, I think he is. I wonder what it is? "Sophie, you know that Brian is the highest in his old school?" Said Father. "Really? Well that explains on why he is so smart." Said Sophie. I looked down in embarrassment. "Yeah, if you have any problems, then you can ask him. Don't be shy." He said. She nodded.
After eating dinner we head upstairs to my room, obviously. I went to my study table to arrange my books as it is so messy. As for Sophie? I dunno. After cleaning the mess I turn to Sophie who was again, missing in action. I looked at the window. It was opened. I looked outside of it and saw Sophie sitting down, hugging her legs. I climbed outside. "Hey, what are you doing here?" I asked. I sat down next to her. She sighed. "I'm just sitting here thinking." She said in a neutral tone. "Thinking about what?" I asked. She looked at me. "About life and school." She said. "I'm not sad or anything, just thinking and breathing the fresh cold air at night calms me down." She said. I looked at her. Wait, is she shivering? Yeah, she is. I took of my sweater and gave it to her. "Here, I can't stand to see you shivering." I said. "I'm not cold." She said. "Are you?" I asked as I point to her hand that is shivering. I touched her hands and it's cold. "See, even your hands are cold." I said. I make her wear the sweater. "There, better?" I asked. She looked down. No answer. "Yeah, thanks." She said. "You know you will get cold right?" She asked. "Yeah, but seeing you cold makes me feel bad and seeing you all warm and comfortable warms my heart and mind." I said. She blushed. I chuckled.
We looked at the scenery, heh, I never thought that the view from the rooftop is actually very beautiful. From here I can see many households and many trees and so on. Very beautiful. I looked at Sophie who was staring into the sky, the stars, they shine bright.
But something else is shining brighter in my eyes. Yeah, it's her, Sophie Hayden. Her blonde hair, blue eyes and her beautiful personality that's making me like her even more. Way more than a friend. Like, you know?
I love you, Sophie Hayden.
If I could only just say it out loud...
