Chapter 9

I was so confused as to what was happening with me and everyone around me. Subaru walked up to me and looked at my neck. I instantly slapped his hand away and walked out of the class without a word.

"y/n, wait!" I heard Kou yell at me from the other end of the hallway. "what is it." I looked back at him as I reached the doorway. "why didn't you tell any of us? why didn't you tell me?" he asked me, slowly walking up to me.

"because I didn't even know about it!" I yelled at him and ran out to the fence line of the campus. I sat down there, hoping that no one found where I was. I had hidden behind some bushes and trees so I thought I was well hidden.

As I closed my eyes, I saw quick events flash through my mind. For some reason, I felt like they somehow filled the gaps in the memory missing from last night.

I sat there, shocked at what I saw next. "s-so it was true that I was bitten." I stuttered to myself. "I found you." a relieved voice said to me. Damn it, they found me. I looked up and my eyes widened when I saw Senri approach me.

I slowly backed up. "So you remember now," he said and stepped a few steps back. There was an awkward silence between us before I spoke up.

"how did you even know where I was last night," I asked him. He just shrugged, "I'm a vampire remember. Anyway, I'm sorry I didn't mean to act like that." He apologised with a small bow.

I nodded and a small smile appeared on my face. That quickly disappeared when my next thought flowed through my mind. "What will Kaname do?" I worriedly asked him. "I don't know, guess I'll just have to find out." he sighed and then walked away.

I continued to walk around for a bit. I stopped at the fountain and sat down along the edge, admiring the calmness of the water. Then, I heard that familiar giggle. "Maria?" I asked out to my surroundings.

"hey there, everyone's looking for you." she hopped up and sat next to me. She just kicked her feet back and forth. "Why is it such a big deal that I got bitten?" I looked down at my hands as I asked her that.

"Well, first of all, vampires are prohibited from drinking blood on grounds. Secondly, everyone is reacting this way because you're a pureblood vampire. It's normal that they're reacting like this, it's basically taboo for a vampire to drink a purebloods blood." She explained.

"pureblood vampire." I relayed out loud. Like I keep saying, I'm not a vampire, I'm a human. Why does everyone see me as a vampire, not a human?

"Don't vampires have senses that tell if someone is a vampire or not," I asked her. She laughed. "well, that's not entirely true." She chuckled.

I sighed. Everyone seemed to stop looking for me now by the realisation that no one has walked past. "You know, you are a very mysterious girl y/n," Maria whispered in my ear.

"How so?" I moved my head slightly at that action. She only smirked and continued. "You know nothing about yourself. You indeed are y/n Kuran, a pureblood vampire. You just don't accept that you are a vampire yet." she said and let out a giggle.

I tilted my head in confusion as I felt small tears prick my eyes. "I still don't understand what you mean," I said with a long sigh. "I can help you understand if you want that. I can help you remember your old self." She said mischievously.

I thought about that. Can she really do that? What would she bring back to me, a bad memory of my past or one of the best moments of my life that I forgot? I was deep in thought when Maria popped her head up and gave me a smirk.

"What exactly do you mean by my 'old self'?" I waited for an answer when she smiled. "As you already know, I'm not Maria Kuranai. I'm simply just using her body. I am Shizuka Hiyo, a powerful pureblood vampire. With that, I can bring back memories that have been erased or hidden by any enchantment or spell. it seems like someone wanted to hide something from you and this is what got you here."

My eyes widened to the memory of what Karlheinz said to me. He took me away from my family when I was just a kid, he then disguised that by saying that I was born into the Sakamaki family.

I clenched my fists at the thought coming back at me. "what's wrong?" She stood up and lent her hand out to me.

"It's nothing, what would I have to do for your help." I asked her and took her hand. "all you have to do is......" she whispered the rest in my ear as my eyes widened.

At that moment, Hanabusa ran up to me. "y/n! Found you." He stopped in front of me and panted like crazy.

"Kaname told me to find you and escort you back to your dorm room," he said with a small bow.

"Oh alright, Maria I'll talk to you later....." I said as I turned around, but Maria was gone. I turned back around and walked up to Hanabusa.

"Let's go, shall we," he said and we headed off to the moon dorms.
