First days always suck. Mostly because every single teacher wants to play an ice breaker game with the class. I didn't want the attention on me, not today at least. I already hated being the new kid. But at least the focus wasn't JUST on me. Plus, a few classmates ended up exchanging numbers with me, just in case if I needed any help or have any questions about any assignments... which was nice of them but I was honestly sick of school already.
I only had one class left, and that was gym. The school tried to make me have gym first thing in the morning but my counselor helped me out and gave it to me at the end of the day. Ally was in that class with me and I honestly feel so relieved. The kids at this school aren't too terribly bad, but they aren't my old friends.
My phone vibrated as the bell went off. Everyone around me started to grab their things and stuff it into their bags, hurrying out of the room. I looked down and realized it was a text from Julian. Part of me thought it was going to be my mom, but the other part of me jumps with joy knowing that he's thinking about me while he's at school.
How's school going? the text read.
I collected my things and made my way towards gym.
fine. i only have one class left and that's gym. hopefully it's an easy day today.
Ally was standing near the vending machines, waiting on me. She was talking to this boy I heard her talk about at lunch. Apparently, she likes this man. And honestly, he looks quite weird in person.
"Hey!" She said as soon as she seen me.
"Hey," I replied, walking up to them.
"Kendall, this is Quan," she looked at him and smiled in a flirtatious way and he gave her the same look in return while giving me a slight head-nod. "I'd love to talk to you all day, but Kendall and I gotta go to gym, so..."
They began to hug and I walked past them into the gym. I found the bleachers and sat with my class.
I took that when I was freshman, so I didn't have to worry about it as an upperclassman.
I squinted my eyes because all of my friends at my old high school did that.
good for you, wanna cookie? I replied.
I could already see Julian rolling his eyes at that reply and I chuckled slightly at myself visioning that. Ally came and sat beside me and started to talk all about her day and the kids in her classes. I was half listening, engaging but not really. I was more focused on ending the day, going home and napping.
Yeah, as long as you bake it for me. I don't want no gas station cookie, Ken.
I laughed at the reply, You literally made me lol. I can't with you.
Before I got the chance to put my phone away for class, it buzzed again.
Ain't that my job?
