I lift the gun to the sky and pull the trigger. It is off. Whoops.
"Your aim seems good, but useless." Gee laughs.
"Ill turn it on next time..." I input.
"Good. Now, MK, Ar, Ef, what did you do?"
"Kicked some draculoids butts." MK shouts over the wind flying over our head. "Printed the symbol on the main wall."
"Same for us two, draculoids got nothing on us." Ef shouts.
"Good. We left my print." Gee says.
I sit quietly thinking about the supposed first adventure. I need to keep my eyes open. I relive the adrenaline I felt and how I was wearing a massive grin the whole time, a real smile. When I resurface and look around Gee is standing with his hand out. Nobody else is in the car anymore and they are waiting for me.
"Sorry." I murmur, jumping out the car unassisted.
"I dont think we have actually ever used the doors." Ar muses.
"Theres no roof and its cooler to jump out." Ef shrugs.
We run into our basement, MK locking the door after him. I follow the guys down to the sofas.
"Okay, heres the plan. We have another raid tomorrow, but an actual one. In the meantime, we have to sort out B Heart here. She needs a gun, gun holder, symbol and training on how to shoot a gun." Gee says.
"I can do the logo if MK does the gun holder." Ar says.
"Ill do the gun." Ef says.
"Lets go then." Gee says, standing.
I follow Gee to the car and we both climb in. Within minutes we are driving back into the wilderness.
"So, dont stay still too long or the static will get you. Still got the black gun on you?" He asks.
"Yes." I reply.
"Then we are good to go."
I nod as Gee turns presses a few buttons. Someone is talking out of the speakers on the car and I look out at the wilderness.
"Its me, Doctor Death Defying. Ill be your surgeon, your proctor, your helicopter! Sending out those slaughtermatic sounds to keep you live!" The speakers blare.
Soon we park by the side of the road, surrounded by only sand, dead grass and what MK said were cacti. I jump out the car, clutching my gun. Gee is already out. I follow him to a lone wall, made out of small slabs of concrete, not the huge blocks of concrete that make up our building.
"We trained MK here." Gee says, walking around the wall.
He stops and I follow him around. He is spraying something on the wall, a circle inside a circle, inside a circle.
"Come back, you want to hit the centre. Stand here and turn your gun on."
He draws a cross in the ground with his gun and I stand on it. I flip the switch on my gun and it whirs into life.
"Aim, and shoot." He mumbles, close to my ear.
I lift the gun up, aiming at the centre circle. I keep my eyes open as I pull the trigger. A white ray flying from the gun.
"Good." Gee says.
I put the gun down at my side and walk up to the circles. I hit the one furthest out. I drag my finger over where I hit, theres a small dent.
"Again." Gee calls after me.
I step back again, aiming my gun at the centre circle.
"Wait, dont shoot yet."
I turn around and look at Gee who is wagging his finger at me.
"When you are standing still, you stand like this." He poses. "Stand like this and hold your gun up."
He continues murmuring instructions and I copy him. He presses his hand against my back, making me straighten up.
"Okay, now your hands." He whispers.
He moves my hands around the gun, placing his hands on top of them. I keep my eyes on the target and pull the trigger. I grin, running up to the target, I think it hit the centre.
"Good, now keep going that."
I step back again, going back into my position. I shoot again, and again, and again. Each time, getting close to centre.
"Now, walk past and shoot, you will be running when we do it in the end so get ready."
I start at one end of the wall, extending my arm and walking across, pressing the trigger down. I grin as white rays leave the gun. This is badass.
"No need to worry you but we need to go, like now." Gee says, slightly panicked.
"What?" I ask.
Gee grabs my wrist and pulls me off. I jump into the car and he is already putting the car into gear. As the car speeds off I look in the wing mirror, there are 4 draculoids with guns running after our speeding car.
"Should we be worried?" I ask.
"No, you can shoot them if you want. Moving targets..."
I turn around in my seat, lifting up my gun and pointing it at a drac.
"Go on then." He says.
I pull the trigger and he doesnt drop, a miss. I keep pulling the trigger, re-aiming and shooting.
"Come on we gotta go."
I pull the trigger one more time, one of the dracs drop and I yelp with joy.
"I did it!" I shout, turning back around.
"Congrats, now back home."
I think to myself for a little as we drive back. Did I kill it?
"Is it dead?" I ask. Did I kill a person?
"Depending, I didnt see but I suspect dead as a doorknob." He replies.
"I-I killed someone?"
Gee is grinning and my grin slowly disappears.
"I-I..." I bite down on my tongue.
"Cool isnt it?"
"No? I killed someone."
"It was suicide to sign up for the job."
"I was in line for that job?"
"Yeah, thank fuck we saved you."
I bite on my tongue.
"Look, to stay alive youve got to kill. Theyre brainwashed, theyre not real people."
"I guess so."
"You have a great shot, it took MK like a week to even hit the target. You are a natural."
"Thanks..."
"Now, lets get you a gun and the rest."
