"Now you dont look like youve escaped." Ef says, lifting up a chunk of Aces hair.

She smiles sweetly but doesnt talk.

The car ride is quiet. Everyone asks Ace questions. She answers with a word or two. She only talks a lot when MK asks her about a serum. But I dont understand half the words she is using.

Standing back in the diner I keep looking back at Ace. Something isnt right. She looks better in her grey BL dress with her light blonde hair and grey eyes. I bet she felt the same way when I turned up decked in my purple gear.

We take our cans of food and climb the roof. I sit next to Gee and Ace. The stars are extra bright tonight. Ace stares at the stars and I furrow my eyebrows together, I remember seeing the stars for the first time.

"Theyre really beautiful, arnt they." I say quietly, between mouths of food.

"Yeah. Who knew the outside world is so pretty." She replies, not taking her eyes from the sky.

"Your make over looks great by the way."

"Thanks. I cant believe Im starting a new life."

I nod, stuffing food into my mouth. I turn and look at Gee, who was already observing my conversation with Ace.

"Your hair is looking nice." I complement him.

"Thanks." He hides a blush. "Your new look is amazing."

"My old one was burnt, ripped and had a hole in the shoulder."

He smiles and pushes his lips together.

Ef and Ar are talking about something, Ace and MK are talking nerd talk too.

"Hey, guys, can I join?" Someone shouts from downstairs.

I peer over the roof. Em is standing on the sand and waving up at us.

"Em! Hey, come up!" I yell down.

She is up within a minutes and sits next to Gee.

"You better?" I ask.

She shrugs, "Yeah. But Ive got to move on as my new house and roommate is ready. Ill visit some time."

"Make sure. We wont move, but if we do, talk to Doctor D. Ask for us." Gee says.

"Sure. Its been a fun few weeks. Thanks."

Everyone is now paying attention to Em.

"Thanks guys, keep yourselves alive. Ill be visiting one day."

She hugs everyone and we are squished into a giant sandwich.

"Im going to miss you." I whisper.

Its sad that Em is leaving. But its okay because we are going to see her again, and we now have Ace. As she rides her motor bike off, her black hair floating off behind her, I think. I never really look close at her, what she looks like. I liked what I saw of her, and I can base my opinion of her from that.

"Wake up kids, long day ahead of us. Restocking day!" Gee shouts.

Its still dark and theres an audible groan. I jog off and change before I have to wait for everyone to change first.

We split off into groups. MK and Ace, getting new test tubes and other supplies from Doctor D. Ar and Ef getting water and fixing parts around the diner. That left Gee and I to get food.

My mind switches back to when I last got food with Gee. I shiver, Im not fighting a random stranger for food again.

"We can take the motor bike if you want Ef?" Gee says, when I return back into the main room.

"Thanks, theres a big compartment in the bike anyway." Ef says.

MK and Ace have already left. I follow Gee outside into the already baking sun. We walk past the car and inside a garage where theres only one motor bike.

"Theres only one?" I say.

"Ill drive then." He says. "You climb on the back."

He sits on the front and waits for me. I think about how Im going to hold on.

"Climb on the back?" He repeats.

"Okay." I mumble, unsure.

I awkwardly sit on the back, balancing. Gee starts the bike and I slide down the seat towards his back.

"Put your arms around me so you wont fall off." He shouts.

"Oh- okay!" I reply.

I put my arms slowly around him, just under his arms, around his chest.

"You ready?" He mumbles.

Before I can reply he revs the engine and we fly forwards. I shout, squeezing him tight.

Wind whips past us as I cling onto him for my life. I squeeze my eyes shut and hold onto him so tightly that I wonder if he can still breathe.

"Its great, isnt it?" Gee shouts over the sound of the wind in my ears.

I dont reply and just squeeze him.

"Dont be scared, its great! We are nearly there anyway."

I open an eye and see everything whipping past. I sit up straighter, yet still pressed against Gees back. Its just like being in a car, but more open, and scarier...

Gee swerves around a corner and I close my eyes and shrink again. Never mind.

Soon he stops the bike. I dont move. He reaches and removes my hands, like a seat belt, from his chest.

"Lets go?" He says.

We both climb off the bike and walk inside.
