Chapter 40- Sneaking Into Dr Ds Office

Today Gee is going to help me sneak into Dr Ds office. I put on less perfume than usual, I dont want to leave a trail.

Gee follows me to outside Dr Ds office. We have a plan. Gee is distracting Dr D and I run in, spreading the word. Im going to use his radio station to talk to all the killjoys. Ive practice my speech for about 12 hours now and I dont think Ill ever be more ready.

Dr D walks out and I make sure Im behind the door. Gee stops him and walks with him over to a sofa in the next room. I take the chance to sneak into his office.

My heart is in my chest as I fiddle with the microphone. I press a button, I think Im live. A light comes on, they can hear me now.

"Its Bulletproof Heart here! In five days we end thing extravaganza before it goes loco! We meet by the diner near to Dr Ds office. The plan? Kill korse, of course, ha! Lets end this before it goes all costa rico and we all get dusted! Ill see you there killjoys, and you know what they say-

The future is bulletproof

The aftermath is secondary

Its time to do it now and do it loud

Killjoys make some noise!

I switch off the mic and leave, as quick as I can. I rush outside, full of adrenaline. I laugh, sliding down the wall outside. The laugh is half nerves, and half astonishment at what I just did. I wait for Gee to run outside and join me. How many days did I say? Five? It doesnt matter, Ill see em anyway. Finally this whole thing will be over.

My thoughts get interrupted as Gee walks outside. I stand and greet him.

"How did it go?" He asks when he sees me.

"Great. Lets hope people heard it." I reply.

"Its weird how this may finally end."

I nod, staring at the sand.

"You didnt put any perfume on today?"

"I didnt want to get caught out by Dr D."

He stops by the road, we are half way to the diner. I stop because he does.

"I appreciate your company." He says.

Its a bit random.

"And I really like you."

I prepare myself for the worst.

"Dont go dying on me, alright?"

I nod with a small smile. "I can try."

He starts walking again and I walk beside him. He puts his arm around my shoulder and I smile, how nice.

"We should tell the guys about this, to prepare them..."

He gives me a look, "If you want."

"They may get freaked out when a hundred killjoys turn up outside our diner."

He laughs at the concept. "I want to see their reaction!"

"Me too, but we just cant..."

He shrugs casually, taking his arm off me as we enter the diner. I sit on the sofa next to Ef.

"How you feeling?" I ask.

"I saw a future with her. A great friendship." He replies.

"Im sorry." I sigh.

I remember what I meant to do when I entered and clear my throat.

"I have an announcement." I say, standing.

"We heard- on the radio. It just turned on and your voice came through." Ar laughs.

"Oh. At least it worked. So, what do you think?"

"Nobody will turn up."

"If they do will you help me?"

He thinks for a moment. "Sure." his reply.

I clap my hands together.
