I looked at the clock which read 6:30. I couldn't stay in my bedroom so I had to move to my living room. I've been sitting on my couch for the past three hours watching TV since I couldn't go to sleep without the fear of him breaking in again. I got up and got ready for work like I do every other morning. Only this morning was different, I was afraid. I was scared to come home again. Unfortunately I had to work, so I quickly ate and walked to the bus station. The bus came after waiting for a few minutes, and it took me a block away from work like usual. I entered the building and went straight to the office.
As soon as I sat down in the chair, I laid my head down. I knew this was a big mistake because moments later I fell asleep. I was awoken by someone shaking me.
"Skye? Are you okay? Skye, wake up!" The man said. I recognized his voice as soon as he said my name, it was Elliot.
"What? Oh, sorry...I didn't mean to fall asleep." I said as I yawned.
"You look exhausted." He said concerned.
"I'm fine." I said trying to make him feel less concerned.
"You look like you didn't sleep at all last night and that is not okay." He said still concerned. I don't know why he cares; I'm not even important to him.
"Do you want to tell me why you're so tired. I suggest you do because I'm not leaving until you give me a real answer." He said as he sat down. I guess he's really serious about this.
"Fine, someone broke into my house last night. I was too scared to go to sleep." I said as I crossed my arms on my desk and rest my head on top of them.
"Why didn't you just call me? I know you have my number." He asked as he looked confused.
"Well I didn't want to bother you." I said.
"You could never bother me." He said. He almost looked shocked at his own statement because his eyes immediately grew bigger.
"Well I never knew I didn't bother you." I said laughing.
"Well...I mean...it's the truth." He said as he smiled at me.
"I have a guest bed in my apartment. Why don't I drive you back there so you can get some sleep. You will be safe there, I promise." He said standing up from his chair.
"What about work?" I asked standing up.
"You really didn't have anything to do today anyways so it doesn't really matter." He said walking towards my door.
"Are you sure?" I asked walking up beside him.
"Yeah, I'll probably head back here though. Don't worry though, you will be completely safe there."
"As long as it's okay with you."
"It's fine." He said as he opened the door and walked down to the elevator.
We walked outside the building and walked to his car. He drove down to his apartment and walked with me to his apartment. We entered his house, and he showed me where the guest room was. We talked for a few more minutes, and then he left. I laid down on the bed and fell asleep a few seconds later.
I woke up at 8 and thought it would be nice to make Elliot dinner since he was letting me stay here. I made my favorite, spaghetti and meatballs. I finished making it around nine. Before Elliot left, he told me he got of at nine so he will be here soon. I awkwardly sat on the bar stool waiting for him. A few minutes later Elliot walked in the door.
"Hey." I said spinning around to face him.
"Hey." He said putting his stuff down on the coffee table.
