Chapter 5: The Letter

I was doing some work on the computer when all of a sudden someone knocked on my office door.

"Come in!" I yelled.

"Hello Miss Rutz." Lisa said as she walked through the door.

"Hello!" I said.

"I have a letter for you. It was delivered last night, but you were already gone before I could give it to you." She said handing me the letter.

"Oh, thank you!" I said as she turned to walk out my door.

"You're welcome!" She yelled as she continued down the hallway.

I slowly opened the letter. I was so nervous to see who it had came from. Unfortunately it was from him.

It read:

Dear Miss Rutz, it's been a few months since we last saw each other, and I think it's time for another get together, don't you? Anyways, I've been watching you. I assume you've realized it was me who broke into your apartment, and I noticed you haven't returned since. You've been too busy with that boss of yours. Elliot Kasper is his name, I think. Well I hope you don't depend on this man too much because he can't protect you, not from me. I hope you like the pictures I took of you. I think they're quite beautiful. Oh and by the way, you won't be able to escape this time. Once I get you, you won't be able to get away so easily.

At the very bottom of the envelope were several pictures of me. Some were taken of me in the hallways of my apartment building, some of me walking to work, and even some of Elliot and I in the hallways of his apartment building. On the back of the very last picture it read I am always watching. It was so creepy that he was able to take all of these pictures of me without me even noticing. Soon tears were coming out of my eyes so I rested my head on the table. Soon the crying turned into muffled sobs. I was so scared. I turned to look out my window realizing that any of those people out there could be him taking more pictures of me. They could be the man I feared most, the man who tore my family apart.

I soon realized that I couldn't go back to my apartment, especially not after this. I wonder if Elliot would let me stay at his apartment, at least until I could find another one. For the rest of the day I drowned myself in work and didn't speak to anyone except through email. When it was finally time for Elliot and I to leave, I didn't say a word to him the whole way to his car. Once we got in his car, he started driving. He must of sensed something was off because he started asking questions.

"Skye, are you okay?"

"Yes."

No

"Are you sure?" He asked again.

"Yes, I'm fine."

No, I'm not fine

"If you say so. Anyways, do you want to stay with me for another night or do you want to go back home?" He asked as he glanced at me then back to the road.

"If you don't mind, I was wondering if I could stay with you for a couple more days. At least until I find another apartment. I just don't feel safe there anymore." I said quietly.

"I don't mind at all. You can stay at my apartment as long as you want." He said. I could see a small smile appear on his face.

"I don't mean to bother you."

"You could never bother me Skye." He said as his cheeks got a little red.

This caused a small smile to form on my face. The car went completely silent after that. Once we arrived to his apartment building I quickly walked inside not wanting him to be able to take anymore pictures of me. Elliot was basically chasing after me until we got to the elevator. Once we got to his apartment I quickly entered the guest bedroom. I looked over the letter and the pictures once more and then stuffed them into the nightstand drawer. I do feel safer with Elliot here, but I know he wont be able to protect me for long. After crying for a while, I finally fell asleep. I woke up to the sound of someone opening the door which startled me.

"Hey! It's just me." Elliot said as he approached the bed.

"Oh, sorry you scared me." I said as I rubbed my eyes.

"I didn't mean to. Anyways, do you want anything to eat?"

"No, I'm not hungry." I said quietly.

"Are you feeling okay, you seem quiet."

"Yeah, I'm okay. I'm just not really hungry right now."

"Okay, well if you get hungry the food will either be on the counter or in the fridge depending on when you come out to eat." He said standing up and heading towards the door.

"Okay, thanks." I said.

"You're welcome." He said as he stopped and looked at me then continued to walk out the door.

I stood up from the bed and walked to the window. I started to feel uneasy. I was so nervous about him knowing where I am. I hated feeling like this. I thought I had finally escaped, but I guess I was wrong. He's back now, and he's coming for me. I hate feeling like I can't do anything to stop him. If I go to the police it will just get even worse like last time. All I know is that I can never let him get to me. I have to keep fighting. I can't go back to being with him. I'd rather die than do that. At least I still have Elliot until I leave. I don't know what I'll do when I leave. Right now I have Elliot to call for if he tries to attack me, but once I leave he wont be able to get there in time. That is if I even get a chance to call him.

If he does somehow get to me again, I wont stop fighting to get away from him. I wont ever stop fighting.

   Hello! If you have made it this far then it means you've completed the first five chapters of this brand new story! This is actually my first story ever on Wattpad that I've actually decided to share so I hope the people that are reading it enjoy. I decided to write on Wattpad because number one I've always wanted to write a story and have others read it and number two because I wanted to get better at grammar. So if you do see any grammar mistakes feel free to let me know! By the way since this is my first story it's probably going not going to be the best story you've ever read, but if you do read it I really really hope you like it! I try to make the chapters long and if you have any questions just put them on here, and I will answer them.
