"it still hurts. it's been so long, you'd think i'd be fine," she says, looking down at her worn converse.
"it used to be a dull ache that was constantly with me, but now it's a sharp pain that only occurs once in a while."
she smiles a little, but it's bittersweet.
"at least i'm getting better, right?"
