"how can you be so heartbroken over someone you never even dated?"
he looked up at the girl who broke his heart, the girl he was in love with since 7th grade, and gave a sad chuckle. "because you are asking me that question is enough. because my feelings have been invalidated over and over again just because we weren't dating. because now it's summer and you just got up and left. and the worst part is i'm not even allowed to be upset. because we weren't dating."
he looked at her with his red rimmed eyes, full of unshed tears. at that moment she noticed the light stubble on his once clean shaven face, how his eyes, the thing she adored so much about him, once appeared bright green but now only looked faded and the ache behind them was on full display.
the thing that broke him, what caused his tears to fall and betray him, was her face; her face held nothing but pity. not a trace of regret, or sadness could be detected.
"but you wouldn't know what that's like would you? what it's like to have your heart ripped in half right in front of you? to have the person who you thought was the love of your life just pack up and leave you behind. you wouldn't know a damn thing about heart brake because all you do is brake hearts. you're nothing but a toxic girl who can't seem to love anybody but her fucking self."
she stared up at him with hurt in her eyes. she expected some half assed answer, total bullshit even. but she got so much more, she got the truth.
Rose took one final look at him and with a mumble of, "i'm sorry Connor.." and she was gone as fast as she came, leaving him to watch the love of his life pack up, and leave once again.
