summary: demon brat gets braces and is in severe pain

you would expect Damian Wayne to be able to deal with any type of pain. From being brought back from the dead and having to constantly fight for his life, how could something so small hurt him more than anything in the world?

Jon's pov:

"Hey Damian, since we're finished with training I was thinking you and I can go-" I turned around to face my friend only to find him gone; knowing Damian, he probably did this to attempt to scare me.

Twenty minutes of me searching had passed and I began to worry. I didn't care if this was a joke or not, I needed to see my best friend.

I ran outside looking for clues of where he could've gone.

"Damian, are you out here?" I asked.

No response.

At this point I had given up. I began to walk inside; I stopped as soon as I heard sniffles coming out of a bush.

I quietly walked towards to bush, hoping I wouldn't scare whatever was in it away.

As I reached closer and closer, I realized who the sniffle from the bush was.

"Damian? Is that you?" I questioned.

No response, once again.

"Damian!" I harshly whispered as I grabbed his shoulder.

"W-what do you want?" He choked out.

I was now facing him. To my surprise, it looked as if Damian had been crying. I was confused by this. Damian never cries? This caused me to worry.

"Dami, what's wrong?" I said as I moved closer to him.

"Y-you'll laugh at me for I-it." He stuttered out.

"You're my best friend, whatever it is, I'll promise I won't judge you."I softly spoke as I began to embrace him into a hug.

"I-I got braces yesterday, an-d it hurts like hell." He said as he moved his head into my shoulder.

Part of me wanted to laugh; Damian had been through hell and back, never feeling an ounce of pain. Yet this metal in his mouth hurt him to the point where he was actually crying. I choose to smile instead.

"See, I knew you would judge me." Damian muttered as he moved his body away from me. He began to get up.

What have I done? I just insulted my best friend and now he's walking away from me.

"Wait!" I said as I grabbed Damian's hand. He turned around looking shocked at what I had just done.

"C-can I see them?" I asked shyly.

Damian sat back down and grabbed my face.
I looked Damian straight in the eyes; at this moment I realized how beautiful he was. From the green eyes he inherited from his mother to the eye bags he had from staying up late on patrol. Damian had never let me this close to him before and I sure as heck was going to embrace it.

"Just so you are aware, I still have the kryptonite bat rang in my belt. If you laugh, I won't hesitate to use it alien." Damian said, while covering his mouth.

He then moved his hands away and smiled, allowing me to see his braces.

I began to blush. This was the first time I had seen Damian actually smile. My god was it beautiful.

"You look beautiful with them." I spat out, unaware of what I was saying. I covered my mouth. Had I really just called my best friend beautiful?

"I what?" Damian responded; a tint of red had began to show up on his cheeks.

"I d-didn't mean it l-like tha-tt I just, I mean you're s-still beautiful, and you probably always will be, but I just I didn't mean it to come out-" Damian's lips were suddenly placed on mine.

I closed my eyes in bliss. His lips were the softest things that I had eve felt.

Damian eventually pulled back for air. He then faced me once again with the dorkiest smile.

"I'm sorry you were just rambling and I had to stop you some how. I didn't mean anything if you don't want it-" it was now me who had stopped Damian mid sentence with a peck.

"To be..." Damian said looking shocked at my actions.

We both were stuck in a comfortable silence for a few minutes, trying to understand what had just happened. I began to twirl my fingers in the grass anxiously but was stopped by Damian's hand intertwining with mine.

"What are we?" I asked as I placed my head on his shoulder.

"Something I never knew I would have." Damian softly said.

"A friend?" I whispered, scared to know what Damian was going to say.

"No, a boyfriend." He beamed as he began to pull me in for one more kiss.

Once again, I felt blissful.
