summary: title explains it but hey a continuation of notes bc im unoriginal
It had all started when Jon Kent had realized his friend was always miserable, especially when it came to being on missions. Whenever he looked at his friend, he couldn't help but notice the sadness that was spread across his face. Jon knew he had to do something to make him feel better. But the thing is, Jon didn't know how to do it.
It wasn't until later at dinner that Jon's mom mentioned that his father used to leave her notes in her cubicle. His father began to blush, becoming embarrassed by what his younger self thought was flirting. His mother however, talked about how much the notes made her day. Even if they were filled with the most cliche sayings ever.
Jon knew how he was going to brighten up Damian's day: he was going to write him notes.
Note one:
"Hey, I like you a lot ,':)"Jon didn't know what to write but knew he had to write something. The first note Jon wrote Damian was a simple six letter phrase with a smiley attached to the end
Jon hoped that Damian wouldn't understand that the first note he had written him had been a lyric in a musical.
The next time he saw him, he made sure to place the note in a place Damian would most likely find it.
Note two:
"You remind me of all thats good in the world"The second note was by far the most cliche note Jon written but there was no other way to put it. No other feeling in the world could ever compete with what Damian made Jon feel. This was the only phrase that would do justice to that feeling.
Note three:
"Cold in my professions, warm in my friendships, I wish my dear Wayne, it might be in my power, by actions rather than words to convince you that I love you - *says as they use words, which come from our very own founding father, to convince you that they love you* Gosh I'm so sorry. I hadn't come up with anything as cliche as usual. The next one will hopefully be better I promise"
Jon had spent a majority of an hour doing research on Alexander Hamilton for his founding father report. While he was researching, Jon came across letters that the man on the 10 dollar bill had written one of his friends. At this moment, Jon realized he hadn't finished writing Damian's note and he was going on a mission with him in less than an hour. He used what Alexander Hamilton had said but changed the "Laurens" into Damian's last name. When he finished copying down the note, he couldn't help but think about how much of a dork this note was going to make him sound like.
Note four:
"I can't help but smile at the mere thought of you"
On the car ride back home from school, Jon looked out the window onto the green flourishing grass. Jon realized that he didn't really like the colour green. Kyrptonite was green and so was broccoli; two of the worse things Jon has ever faced. He was about to come to the conclusion that green was a horrible colour until he thought about Damian's eyes. How they were a perfect shade a green. A green that reminded him of the green pine trees, which smelled amazing. While he was thinking about Damian's green eyes, Jon began to smile. His thoughts were soon interrupted by his mother asking him what he was thinking about.
"Hmm." Jon responded."You're smiling. You must be thinking of something good, I suppose."
Note five:
"But I can't help falling in love with you"
As a present for getting a 100% on his founding father's project, Jon's father had decided to get Jon a ukulele. A bunch of the artists Jon listened to had songs that involved the ukulele. As soon as he got it, Jon began to practice his favorite song on it.
2 weeks had passed, Jon was now able to play a singular song on the ukulele. He was quite proud of his playing and decided to show Damian what he had been working on.
While they were in Damian's room, Jon brought out his ukulele to show Damian.
"Can you even play that thing?" Damian asked as he fiddled with the strings.
"Of course not, I just bought this to admire. Not play." Jon said sarcastically.
"Hey, don't you get cocky with me Kent." Damian exclaimed.
Jon couldn't help but smile as he looked at Damian. Before he knew it, he was strumming a C note.
While Damian was off in the restroom, Jon took this as a chance to place another note for Damian. Once again, Jon had used a lyric for this note. Part of him new this note would give away the fact that he had been the one behind the notes, but he couldn't help it.
The next night at 8:44 pm, Jon had received a call. Part of him wanted to ignore the call and just snuggle more into his bed, but after seeing the contact he knew he had to answer.
"Damian it's 8:45, my bedtimes at 9. You are extremely aware of that?" Jon groaned.
"Yes Jon, I am very aware of your bedtime. I just needed to confront you about a couple things. Is that alright with you?" Damian asked.
"Shoot." Jon said as he let out a yawn.
"First off, do you not understand how much stress you put on my shoulder? Secondly, wow you are by far thee most sappiest person I have ever met. Lastly , really Jon? Using Alexander Hamilton's very own words to John Laurens to describe how you felt about me?"
Although none of them could see it, both boys were smiling like idiots.
"How could I have not used it to show how I feel about you? It was basically screaming 'Jon show Damian how much you love me by changing laurens to Wayne'. I swear if he wasn't dead, Alexander Hamilton would be nodding in approval." Both of the boys had began to laugh.
"What gave it away?" Jon asked, wanting to know what note had exposed him.
"Next time you write to me, ensure that you won't use a line from a song that you had sung to me the previous day as you're note."
