Chapter 3
The early morning sun creeping over the horizon was a peaceful sight for the residents of the small London home. Creeping past the curtains that shielded the outside world was the two eighteen year olds sleeping soundly in their bed, limbs tangled together, breaths too, it was peaceful, warm, a perfect love.
The sky was painted with reds and orange, streaked with purples and a glimpse of blue ready to shine through for the sunny day ahead, a rare day for November, though no one was complaining. Adria Hopkins eyes fluttered open when the early morning sun moved over her eyes, peaking through the curtain sending rays of light into the dull room.
Her breath fell from her lips, a sigh of content that she couldn't seem to help, unable to rid her happiness that had clouded her mind the past few days. She felt lucky, that even in the time of war, she was still able to cope, to feel happy with her life and her family, she thought it was merely impossible to be able to feel joy with the loss of her father just a mere few months ago but she knew that he would be more than relieved, that her life was finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel of mourning.
Her head turned to face Sirius, seeing his eyes tightly closed and his lips parted, and with a small smile did she reach up to press her lips to his, unable to help her giggling when he started to stir, eyebrows furrowed until he caught sight of Adria's smiling face, which he couldn't deny was a perfect sight to wake up to.
"Morning," she whispered, reaching up to run her hand through his hair.
"Morning," he smirked, tightening his grip around her, "what a nice way to wake up."
"Oh shush," she laughed softly, pushing herself closer to him, "how did you sleep?"
"Brilliantly," he shrugged, "y'know, you don't need to go today, Ads, I can take up some extra shifts, and! We still have money in the bank, please Ads, you could just take it easy, spend some more time with Jude, I-I, uh, Grace could even come over, and Lily, she isn't working, or James, they could come and hel-"
"Sirius, please," Adria laughed softly, gently tracing her fingertips over his cheek, "I want to go, I want to go to the interview, and maybe I won't get it, maybe someone else is right for the job and not me but at least I tried. But if I do- well it's going to help us, isn't it? that money in the bank is strictly for bills, paying off stuff that we can't, but that job, the extra money, it could help us with luxuries, I mean Jude could get those toys he wanted, we could finally have money to go out, just little things!"
"But, like I said Addy I could take up some extra shif-"
"Sirius you work so hard as it is, me getting this job could mean less shifts for you, too, bloody hell you work constantly!" she exclaimed, sitting up in their shared bed and soon running a hand through her hair, "I'm not going to be a stay at home mum, Sirius, and that is perfectly fine for someone who wants to do that but it's not me, it's not who I am, I want this job, I want to provide for our family."
"But in a few months you'll have to leave work, bloody hell Addy, you're pregnant!" he laughed in disbelief, "I am not stopping you from providing, but you can wait a few months, until the baby comes and then we can work things out, with the thing James said-"
"I know," she whispered, frowning, "but It could be good for me, y'know? Having a distraction, a place to go, to forget about everything, it's a muggle job, it could be great!"
"Always the optimist," Sirius smiled softly, kissing her cheek, "what are your thoughts on Jude?"
"What about Ju- oh, you mean nursery?" Adria sighed, "I don't want him to go."
