Chapter 12

Adria pulled the coat tighter over herself as she stepped out her new car that her and Sirius bought only last week, a frown on her lips and her hair tumbling down her back in the curls whilst her face stained with tears. Jude was in the back seat getting restless from sitting through the whole funeral without moving or without food and Adria was trying her best to hurry up and get inside before the snow fell again.

She was absoloutely terrified of driving on snow but she made the exception for today. They had just gotten back from the terribly sad funeral of Merida and Dominic, the two she had grown closer to in her letter after she had helped with their relationship because of Merida's old friend Kiera, the one who tried to sabotage Adria and Sirius' relationship, too.

"I know you're hungry, baby I'll make you something soon," Adria smiled softly at a whining Jude who was clinging to Sirius' hand, "and I'll tell you what, I'll even give you a cupcake later if you're good."

Those very words seemed to brighten the boy who was trying to move away from the many kisses Sirius was teasingly placing all over his cheeks much to his whining. Adria laughed softly at the boy in his arms, grabbing her bag from the back of the car, she pressed her lips to Sirius' cheek whilst running her hand through Jude's hair.

"What do you say me and Pad will make us all food and then we can sleep for a while?" asked Adria, her head titled as Jude processed her words.

"Can- can we have the blankets out?" the boy asked whilst Sirius clutched him tightly, his eye on Adria who was leaning her hands on his shoulder and her head on her hands.

"Of course, we can baby, and when we wake up I'm sure we can watch a film too," she grinned, "it's been a very sad day, I think we all need something to eat and cupcakes to cheer us all us up."

"I didn't like that," Jude shook his head, "everyone seemed very dull and it was very quiet."

"You're right," Adria nodded, pressing one last kiss to Sirius' cheek before rummaging into her bag for her keys, "it wasn't good at all, wasn't it? it was very sad to say the least. I know I was sad."

She turned to see Sirius opening the gate from their small driveway onto their garden, looking at the flowers that needed tended to because of the winter months, "I don't want you to be sad, Addy, I want you and Pad to be happy all of the time."

"Well we're very happy with you, Jude," Adria giggled, trying her best not to crack under the pain of the funeral. It brought back the memories she had tried to swallow of the pain of her father's passing, the pain she hadn't truly yet let go of.

Adria's heart started beating frantically when her key wouldn't turn in the door, her wand in the heeled boots she wore now in her hand which alerted Sirius behind her. He moved Jude so that the boy was clutched in one arm with his wand in the other and before he could tell Adria to stop what she was doing; the girl was already in their home.

She didn't know who it was, it could've been any of their friends, like Lily who had a key, or Remus or Finn and Milo who was waiting for them to get back and it most likely was, but she was on edge from the funeral and from the world at war that at any moment she would get her wand ready for anything.

Her bag fell to the floor and so did her wand with a crash when she entered the living room, her lips parted and her eyes automatically filled with tears as she looked at the two people in front of her, the two people she missed dearly with wide smiles taking over their faces and their skin tone darker from the warm weather they had been basking in for months and months.

Jude squirmed in Sirius' grip when he saw them and Sirius' sad mood had been replaced by a wide grin at the sight of two people he had missed and Adria seemed frozen to the ground whilst the two laughed at her shock.
