I can't keep my mouth shut anymore. I will explode.
I don't want to ruin things with Michael or involve Jasmine, who I mainly just comfort.
I want to see AJ.
My mother is out, taking Porter to soccer practice or some other kid activity of his, so I call Michael for a ride. "Hey?"
"Audrey? It's been a while."
I gulp. "I know. I'm sorry."
"What do you need?" he asks.
"How do you know I need something?"
He sighs. "Do you need something?"
I sigh back. "Yes."
He says nothing.
"Will you take me to the hospital?" I ask, breaking the silence.
"I'll be there in a few minutes."
"Thank you."
He hangs up.
My mind drifts from him to AJ in seconds. I pace the room, wondering what I'll start off with saying.
Then it all comes rushing back.
