-Rose-
I look at myself in the mirror for the last time, and then go down to the car where Adam has been waiting for me.
"It's about time young lady, it's been 20 freaking minutes!" He yelled, but I knew he was just kidding so I laughed. "Just shut up and drive." He laughed too "Yes ma'am." Moments later and we were on our way to who knows where.
"Hey Ro?" He started and I looked at him "Yeah?" "Are you sure it's okay that we go out this late? I mean, what if your father comes back and doesn't find you, what will happen?" He asked, keeping his eyes on the road.
"No, don't worry. Most of the time after we fight he goes out, gets drunk and probably hook up with a stripper or something and doesn't come back before the next morning. So we're safe, as long as we come back before tomorrow morning." I said looking out the window.
"Okay, then." He said, making a turn. I was still looking out the window when I noticed him looking at me before stopping the car.
"Hey..." He started, looking at me closely. I looked at him and there was sadness, sympathy and something else in his eyes that I couldn't figure out. "It's gonna be fine, okay? I know he's a horrible guy and there are no words that can describe him, I know that you're miserable and don't like how you live, I know you miss your friend and that she was the only one that could make you feel better. But now I'm here, and I'm not planning on leaving anytime soon. I'm gonna make you feel better, about yourself, about your life, about anything. I'll try my best to make you laugh even more, I'll make you do some weird crazy stuff that you probably haven't done in your whole life." He finished and I found myself smiling like a crazy woman.
"And how are you gonna do that Mr -I-can-do-anything-?" I asked, sarcastically, leaning in a little and narrowing my eyes at him. " How about we make a deal?" He suggested, leaning in too and doing the same thing I was doing. I back away when he said that and sat straight.
"What deal exactly?" I asked, interested in what he's gonna say next.
"I'm gonna teach you how to live a little." He said. I waited for him to proceed but he said nothing, he just kept looking at me waiting for me to say something.
"But where's my part in that deal?" I asked again. "You'll just have to do whatever I say, and don't worry I won't make you do some really crazy stuff were you could get in trouble or anything."
"But what about my father? you know he's not the type of a father who would let his daughter go out whenever and wherever she wants so it's not as easy as you think." I think about what he said and the only thing stopping me from agreeing to what he said is my father. I know it's gonna be fun and I know Adam's a good guy and all that, but I don't know what could possibly happen, what if I come home late one day? or what if he saw Adam once when he was coming to pick me up?
"Don't think about it too much Ro, nothing will happen trust me, just leave it to me I'll handle this. So what do you say?" He said, offering his hand for me to shake. I think about it for a while though. I think about what Tiffany told me, that I should meet new people and do different things, that I should live a little. I think about what I say to myself and wish every single night, that I don't want to die as miserable as I've lived. I actually have a chance to change the way I live a little, maybe I will never change the fate of having a father who hates his daughter more than anything in the world, but maybe I can change the way I feel about my life other than him, I can change my mind about myself. And there's a chance for me to do that now. So I don't hesitate anymore.
"Okay." I finally said, and I took his hand to shake. "Deal?" He asked one last time. "Deal." and I answered. "FINALLY, WAS THAT SO HARD?" He said and I laughed. "she's gonna be the end of me." I heard him mutter under his breath smiling, kinda talking to himself but I didn't question it. "Okay now, off to our first adventure!" He said excitingly , fist bumping the air like a little kid which made me laugh more.
