The next morning I ran all the way down to the training gorunds eager to start. For the first time, I was actually happy about training with Darien. Having broken the invisible barrier we had between us all this time, I finally felt more comfortable around Darien, but I won't let that deter me from being completely professional.
"Morning," I said as I walked up to Darien.
"Hey," he smiled. "Ready to start?"
"Sure," I smiled back.
"Alright, today we're going to work on flipping, and kicking, when someone attacks you, the two last things you should do are kicking and flipping, you should always try to use your upper body, but resort to kicking if necessary,"
I nodded.
"Okay so we're going to work on some front kicks, get into fighting stance."
I got into fighting stance and he stood in front of me in fighting stance.
"Alright now when you reach out your leg to kick, try to keep your upper body as straight as possible."
"Okay," I straightened up my back.
"Alright now, kick."
I kicked.
"Again."
I kicked again.
"Try to aim higher."
I kicked, aiming higher.
We went on like that for a few hours, practicing different kicks, going them over and over and over and over again. Then we went on to work on flips, back flips, front flips. Anything you might need to get away, under, or over your opponent.
After a couple hours of practice, Zane and Aria paid us a visit.
"Hey guys!" Zane said as they approached us.
"Eva!" Aria came up to me and gave me a hug.
"Hey A," I hugged her.
"Brother," Zane high fived Darien and gave him a pat on the back.
Funny, everytime Zane sees Darien, he acts as if he hasn't seen him for days. I guess they don't hang out much.
"Hey Darien," Aria smiled at Darien when we pulled away.
"What's up guys," he said to them.
"Well, we came to steal you away Darien," Aria said.
"Yea, sorry Eva, but the elders need a word with our Darien here." Zane went on to say.
"I'm not complaining," I chuckled, "Is everything okay?" I asked.
"The Elders need to speak with all the protectors about the 3 to 1 problem." Aria replied.
"3 to 1?"
"The fact that we're outnumbered, we did a count and their ratio to us is 3 to 1." Darien explained, and then looked back at Zane, "This can't wait?"
"No, the meetings starting in minutes." Zane answered.
"Alright, Aria where are you going?" Darien asked.
"I'm going to teach a class now, I'm doing history today." Aria smiled.
"And you?" Darien looked at me then.
"You should come with me! Brush up on your Theon history," she said, then frowned when she remembered I wasn't Theon, "I mean, you don't have to-uhm-I-"
"It's okay," I stopped her and smiled, "I always loved history class growing up."
"Then you'll love Aria's class, she's a great teacher." Zane said and walked over to Aria and threw his arm around her shoulders, "She's a little smarty pants this one," he smiled at her.
