We made our way to Aria's house, where Aria was waiting with Darien, I looked at him as he smiled at something Aria was saying, but as soon as he saw me, the smile faltered, and he looked down.
"Hi beautiful," Zane walked straight up to Aria and gave her a kiss on the lips.
"Whoa!" I said my eyes snapping from Darien to the two love birds, Darien's eyes followed.
"When did this happen?" Darien got up from his chair and smiled again at the two.
"This morning," Aria said and then looked at me, "He called me out to the cliff and professed his feelings for me when I got there." She beamed with happiness.
"Aw you guys," I went over and hugged Aria, when I pulled back I looked at her "I'm so happy for you! Finally!" we all laughed.
"Yea, it really is about time," Darien walked over to his brother and gave him a heartfelt hug.
"Okay! Now that we've settled our problem, next, your problems,"
"Who?" Darien and I said in unison.
"You!" Zane and Aria said n'sync.
"Zane," I warned, "Don't"
Darien looked confusingly between me and Zane.
"Look, whatever's been going on between you and Darien that's put a wedge between the two of you, snap out of it." Aria began. "I hate to sound so crass, but after all the progress we've made, you've made"-she pointed at me and Darien- "I don't care what it is that you're angry about, you're not ruining this friend ship."
"Or what's left of it," Zane added, "In a few weeks, Eva you'll be gone. And the last thing you'll remember from each other, is that you were angry at each other. We'll probably never see you again. We've become so close, we need to make the best of the time we have left together."
"Especially you two, a girl and a boy from two different tribes that are sworn enemies became friends, you're a mark in history. Eva, you'll go down in history as the girl who brought the Kairi and Theon together. Darien you're living proof that Theon and Kairi can get along with no problems. And who knows! Maybe even after they'll work out some sort of treaty so that we can still see each other." She look a breath and then continued, "Darien, you weren't so fond of Eva when she got here, and you grew to like her, and her you,"
"You have no idea," Zane muttered under his breath.
Darien and I looked at him and then back at Aria as she continued to speak.
"And now with this battle coming up, who knows. We have to stick together. So promise me that whatever's wrong, you'll forget about it."
"She's right," I looked down, and then at Darien, "I want you to stop avoiding me. I wanna go back to the way things were."
Darien looked me in the eyes, and quietly nodded.
"You guys obviously have a private matter to resolve, we'll leave. Whatever it is, fix it." Aria finished.
Zane wrapped his arm around her shoulders, they both gave us a sympathetic smile and left. Darien and I were left alone.
"I'm sorry. For avoiding you, and ignoring you." Darien said.
I nodded. "It's fine,"
"I had no right to be angry with you-"
"Darien, it's okay-"
"Let's just, get through these next few weeks. They're right, we won't be able to see each other after. And I'll miss you." Darien took a step forward.
I looked at him, he was going to miss me. He admitted it.
"So let's make the best of what we got." He finished.
I nodded and smiled.
He smiled and looked down and I walked up to him and hugged him, my arms around his neck. I could feel him stiffen underneath me, obviously he wasn't used to this kind of affection from someone he barely knew like me. But I didn't give up. I kept my arms around him until finally, he wrapped his arms around my waist, hugging me back. After a few seconds, he then buried his face in my neck.
I've never felt more comfortable in my entire life.
