Ryll's POV
"Paki-paliwanag nga," napahilamos ng mukha si Jaren. "Why in the world are the two of you sitting so calmly, drinking coffee and tea while baby is still missing?"
Sabay na napatingin sa'min ang dalawa at tila'y nagulat.
"Oh hey, Hon! Ryll!" ani ni Rydel.
"Hi kuya at doc!" bati naman ni Agatha.
"Kanina pa ba kayo diyan?"
"Gusto niyo ba ng kape?"
"Or tsaa?"
"I know it won't be like dayling's—"
"But at least we asked if you guys want some."
At ngumiti pa sila ng abot tenga, and that just pissed me off.
"Your best friend is missing for about two days now and the two of you are just drinking your own version of fựcking refreshments?"
Napatigil sila saglit at tumingin sa isa't-isa. Then they nodded at the same time. "Yup. Yeah. Pretty much."
I had to close my eyes and looked up to stay calm to not shout at them. "You've gotta be kidding me."
"Actually, no," sagot ni Rydel. "We're serious."
"Hon," Jaren called her soon-to-be-wife. "May alam kayo ano?"
"Yes and no," sagot agad nito.
"What do you mean?" Jaren asked the same question I had in mind.
"Yes may alam kami at iyon ay hindi na natin pang kailangang hanapin si bata. I've known her for, more or less, a decade now and whenever she disappeared before, it was always because she just wanted to be alone. And I can assure you that she is safe," sagot nito.
"And no, wala kaming alam at the same time because we really have no idea what she is doing right now or where she's at," dagdag naman ni Agatha. "Malaki na si Dayling, not talking about her height, she can take care of herself."
"But—" They cut me in.
"No buts," sabay nilang sabi.
"Aaksayahin mo lang ang oras mo kakahanap sa taong ayaw naman sa'yong magpahanap," sabi ni Agatha. "Instead of worrying about her, why don't you try to fix your problem with that so-called good childhood friend slash fiance of yours?"
"Para naman pag bumalik na si Melon hindi ka na mamomoblema kung sino sa dalawa ang pag-aaksayahan mo ng oras," saad ni Rydel. "Kasi knowing my bata? Kapag nawalan 'yun ng gana, wala ka ng magagawa para maibalik ulit ito. Kaya kung mangyari man iyon, hindi ko siya masisisi at sorry na lang sa'yo."
Damn.. Why did I suddenly feel scared of the thought of losing her?
