"You aren't gonna beat me Tyler! There's no way!" Josh yelled while playing Mario Kart after lunch one day."Yes I will!" Tyler yelled back, making both Jenna and I facepalm.
"You realise I'm beating both of you right?" Mark said from beside Jenna, making the other two boys glare at him.
"Way to burst my bubble Mark." Josh said playfully.
"That seems to be my job around here." Mark chuckled.
"I thought I hired you to be creative director, not to beat us in Mario Kart."
"You mustn't of read my job description correctly."
"You're all out of the band." I said out of nowhere. "Jenna and I are taking the world by storm with out bad singing and single key piano playing."
"Hey! I can sing thank you very much!" Jenna pretended to be offended.
"Jenna's amazing singing and my off key hums." I corrected.
"Better."
"You can't kick us out of the band!" Tyler said, crossing the finish line, leaving Mark and Josh to their angry grumbles for a few seconds.
"I just did."
"That is not fair!"
"I'll kick you off tour completely in a minute Tyler!"
"You're mean."
"It's my job." I mocked.
"When did this become a jab at me?! Mark exclaimed, his hand on his heart.
"Just now."
"Ri, can I teach you a song?" Tyler asked me. It was around 10:30pm the night before Tyler and Josh's first show in England. I knew I probably should be sleeping, but something seemed to be eating me alive. I was up with Tyler, who had been trying to distract me by playing Mario Kart with me.
"On piano?" I replied.
"No actually. On ukulele." Tyler responded.
I nodded and stood up walking beside Tyler who grabbed his ukulele as we sat outside on the balcony.
"I'll sing it for you first, then I'll teach you the chords." Tyler said. He took a breath before beginning to sing.
"Wise men say, only fools rush in . . ."
I smiled softly as he sang quietly, the wind brushing softly against my face.
After Tyler finished singing, he handed the ukulele to me. "Do you know what frets are?"
I nodded. "These things right?" I pointed to the spaces between the bars on the ukulele.
Tyler nodded. "C major chord. Third fret, first string."
I placed my fingers down where I was supposed to and strummed.
"E minor. Second fret, first string. Third fret, second string. Fourth fret, third string."
And on we went, and in half an hour, I had learnt how to play a song on the ukulele.
"You seem to take to music Ri." Tyler said.
"What do you mean?"
"You have musical ability."
"It's only because you taught me. And I'm not even that good."
"Trust me, I've tried teaching Abbi how to play ukulele — don't even get me started on that. We tried guitar, ukulele, piano, Josh even tried to teach her how to play the drums. She couldn't learn. We gave up eventually, it seemed impossible."
