"Let's go to your friends' party tomorrow," Carl said as the two of us got ready on the morning of July 3rd.

I grinned at him in the mirror. "After the first dreadful experience you want to do something else for me?"

He came up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist, resting his head on my shoulder as he looked at my reflection in the mirror. "Baby I will jump off a fucking bridge for you if you thank me like that again," he grinned.

I laughed, rolling my eyes. "I should've known this was about a blowjob!"

Carl winked, dragging his tongue up the side of my neck and making me gasp.

"Alright, alright," I laughed. "Fine, we'll go. But you can't get me- ahhh- all riled up right before you- ooh- leave for work. That's not fair," I whined.

He stilled his mouth and planted a kiss before leaning back. "Fine."

He walked over to the door to get his shoes on, and I followed behind him to get the dogs' leashes. He was beginning to be less weird about me taking them out on my own, at least during the day.

We walked downstairs together and he kissed me before walking down to the train. I turned to go the opposite way with the dogs.

When the three of us were back upstairs, I got my phone out to text Stella.

The next evening, Layla and I headed into the Loop and caught the Brown Line at Clark and Lake. We hopped off at Fullerton and she led the way to her friends' place. I happily stayed a few steps behind to watch the way her ass looked in her tiny little jean shorts. We stopped in a liquor store to grab some beer on the way.

"Aw, look at the patriotic vodka bottle," Layla grinned, holding it up to show me from the next aisle over.

"I thought we were going with beer," I laughed, thinking of how wild we got when consuming hard liquor.

"So we'll get both," she shrugged as we met at the end of the aisle near the register.

After we paid and left the store, Layla led me another few blocks east. "Here it is," she smiled up at a medium-sized apartment building.

"Damn," I nodded approvingly. "Nice place."

Someone buzzed us up and we walked into the lobby and got in the elevator.
