I wake up to the sound of my alarm clock going off ahead of schedule. I stare at it and try to make it shut up with my mind, it doesn't work, but hey stranger things have happened, well maybe not to me but it never hurts to check anyway. I turn off my alarm clock as I slide out of bed, and begin fumbling my way to the STAR.
Ok explanation time. You know those glow in the dark stars that you buy for kids that are scared of the dark, well I was one of those kids. Eventually I outgrew it, and found practical uses for them. I took them off the ceiling and planted them all around my room, so I could navigate in the dark. The STAR is the one star that I got that was bigger than the rest, and I put that at the most important spot of all when you're in the dark, the light switch.
I flip the switch and examine my room. From where I'm standing, facing away from the door and towards the room itself, to my left is an old English style dresser that dominates that wall, on top of it are my electronics such as my TV, game systems, and stereo. Against the left wall are my bed which is centered, and nightstand which has a lamp, my alarm clock, a bowl where my keys go, and a basket with the harnesses and leashes for my pets. The far wall has the door to my bathroom and a desk which has my computer on it. The wall to my right has nothing against it because it is a window/wall, that is covered by a black curtain with small wave designs on it. Lastly is my ceiling, you can't really see it, because about a foot below it is a mesh net that goes all across it, and every few feet are holes about eight inches in diameter with a few of them having ropes hanging down to the floor.
In the far corner is a cage with no door suspended from the ceiling. In this cage are two hammocks, and in these hammocks are my two ferrets Crunch and Crash. They are hissing at the light and already moving to the rope over my bed, where their favorite play toy is, Max. Max is my Siberian Husky that I got as a gift from my dad about six years ago, I paid for Crunch and Crash two years ago.
They climb down the rope, get under the covers, and move towards the sleeping Max. As soon as Max smells them, the usual battle of the bed begins. I stand there smiling as their morning rituals come to a close.
As the battle is decided, they hop off my bed together and make their way to their respective food and water bowls. I move to the bathroom and study the reflection in the mirror that dominates the back wall of the room. It is the same one as yesterday, the low eyebrows over my angular blue eyes, which make curves that go into my long low nose. My sandy blonde hair cut close to the sides and back but has about four inches on the top. My sharp jaw line that gives my face a sort of hawkish appearance.
I go through my usual morning routine, of getting ready for the day. I brush my teeth as I dry off. I dress and pick up the harnesses and harness my pets, before grabbing my school bag, phone and ipod. This is the point I hear my mom getting breakfast started. I leash my pets, exit my room and start down the stairs.
From the bottom of the stairs you can see pretty much the whole bottom floor of my house. About five steps in front of me and to the left is the front door. Past that is a threshold that leads to the living room, which flows into the dining room. There is a door on the far left that leads to the garage. In the dining room there is another threshold that leads into the kitchen and in the kitchen is a sliding glass door that leads to patio, and our backyard with our pool as well as our pool house. Also in the kitchen is a door in the far corner that leads to my parents room. There is also a threshold to my right that leads to the kitchen. Just past the threshold is a bathroom, after that there is a hall that leads into the laundry room which has a door that connects to my parents room, and a door that has stairs leading to the basement.
Upstairs has one bathroom other than my own, and two other rooms besides mine. The first is the "fun" room where we play party games and other games that take up room to play. The other is my dad's study. The room is dominated by an old French style desk that is so big my dad had to pay a carpenter to make it where he could take it apart and reassemble it in the room. This project took him several weeks to complete, because he wouldn't let anyone help him with it. When we tried he would thank us but brush us away saying.
