Stepping into the room I feel like an ant, the room feels like it were made for giants. At the same time I felt that this is where I belonged, it is a hard distinction. The urge is stronger than before as we slowly make our way across the room. In what appears to be the middle of the room is a raised platform with eight daises that are spread out in a straight line side to side. We are still a very good distance from the platform, when smoke swirls in front of us.
We stop as the smoke curls and shapes into a room, though we could still see the huge room around us. The room is noisy and full of rambunctious little children. I don't understand it until I see a six year old version of me sitting quietly playing with blocks. A boy takes one of the blocks I am playing with and throws it away from me, when I don't respond he shrugs walking away.
"Cold Fang." Miranda says laughing.
Another boy who had been watching me caught the block, and was walking towards me. It's not until he's right behind my six year old self that I realize it's Danny. The memory floods back into me, this was my third day of school, the day I met Danny.
Danny's younger self sits across from me, but my younger self doesn't respond.
"Hey, I'm Wayne here's your block back." Little Danny says handing me the block.
"You're not going to throw it are you?" My little self asks not looking up from the blocks.
"Why would I do that?"
"Everyone else does, my dad always says if you're to introduce yourself for the first time it should be with your whole name." Little me says still not looking up from the blocks.
"In that case my dad always says you should shake hands when you introduce yourself."
Little me looks up smiling, and sticks out his hand towards little Danny.
"I'm Felix Alexander Norton-Grant." Little me says grabbing little Danny's hand quickly.
"I'm Wayne Jacob Daniels." Little Danny says and the smoke changes again.
"You two met that long ago?" Miranda asks looking between Danny and me.
"Yeah right after that I said I didn't like my name, and Fang here dubbed me Danny." Danny says looking at me.
The smoke rises, and then expands into a playground. On the play ground there are lots of shrieking kids, and a few teachers. Close to where we are standing is a small red headed girl being picked on because of her bright red hair. The girl isn't crying, but she is trying to find a way out of the large circle of taunting children.
"Ginger, ginger." The kids sing at her.
Behind them four boys, who I recognize as me, Danny, Alex, and Josh, walk up quietly and when they are close enough they jump on the four biggest kids and star punching and kicking. The teachers don't notice, and the four young versions of us get up. The kids all scatter, and the young Scarlett walks up to the young us and says.
"Thanks Wayne I was just trying to go to the concession stand, but they wouldn't stop." She says this without looking at the rest of us. "Who are these guys? Are they the ones you keep talking about at dinner?"
"Yeah Kayla, but remember I go by Danny now. I'll always be there for my big sis even if she doesn't want me to be."
"You will always be Wayne to me, thank you guys as well. I'll see you at home Wayne." She says walking away from us and the smoke changes again.
"I forgot about that, it was the first time I met you three." Scarlett says looking at Me, Alex, and Josh.
"That was the week before we stayed over at your house Danny, for the first time." Josh says looking at Scarlett.
